Salem International University was founded in 1888 as Salem College by the Seventh Day Baptist Church. As a private, for profit institution, Salem International University now offers associate through graduate level degrees in business, education, nursing, information technology and criminal justice. Salem International University makes every effort to offer flexible course schedules suited to the busy professional.
Alumni of the West Virginia based university have gone on to become national and international executives, professional athletes and a state governor. A variety of clubs and athletics are available to students on campus including cheerleading, photography, videography, ministry, thrill seeking, water polo, wrestling, music, and writing. The School of Nursing at Salem International University strives to make nursing education available and accessible to all. Nursing programs are available from the diploma to bachelor’s degree level. Nursing programs at the diploma and associate’s degree levels are not offered online. Online Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
The online RN to BSN (Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing program) offers current registered nurses the opportunity to earn their degree online. Courses in the online bachelor’s degree program emphasize the following skills and competencies:

Students submit a portfolio demonstrating comprehension of concepts learned in their course, rather than completing a practicum.
Nurses who complete the program can aspire to careers as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Instructor, Registered Nurse, Acute Care Nurse, Advanced Practiced Psychiatric Nurse and Critical Care Nurse.
Duration and Cost
Estimated tuition is $12,700, and the course requires 120 credit hours, 60 of which are awarded upon acceptance into the program.
Things to consider:
- Nurses who enroll in the program must be in good standing.
- Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA in all courses to earn their degree; 2.5GPA is considered maintaining good academic standing.
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree program is not accredited by a nursing body.
Accreditation
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central of Association of Colleges and Schools accredits the RN to BSN Nursing program.
