South Carolina Nursing Schools
There are 25 accredited nursing schools in South Carolina in our database, with varying degree levels.
Table of Contents
Though many South Carolina schools have wait lists for their nursing programs, many others do not, and there are still jobs available for qualified nursing professionals upon graduating and being licensed.
Since large schools and state hospitals get the bulk of new nursing students and freshly graduated nurses, they may not always have spots open. This doesn’t mean that South Carolina’s many smaller schools and community hospitals don’t, however. There are still plenty of good medical programs in South Carolina that don’t have waitlists, and lots of small doctors’ offices, emergency clinics, fertility clinics, and other medical facilities that are in need of good nurses.
Career Options for South Carolina Nurses
South Carolina may have a low patient to nurse ratio, but that doesn’t mean that South Carolina can’t use any more nurses. Just like almost everywhere else, there is considerable variation in nursing salaries across South Carolina. A registered nurse in Charleston can look forward to a median annual salary of $61,129, while a nurse in Sumter will only end up pulling in $59,420, and a nurse in Greenville will earn a median salary of $62,444. These are all medians, meaning that they’re the numbers in the middle of a broader range- the truth is, nursing salaries in South Carolina can go all the way from around $48,000 up to nearly $75,000. All figures are from the BLS.
South Carolina Board of Nursing
South Carolina’s Board of Nursing handles everything to do with nursing in the state, from licensing to educational requirements. It’s an important resource for nurses and nursing students that need information on approved nursing schools and programs in South Carolina, licensing and examinations, and more. The South Carolina Board of Nursing can be reached on their website, or at 110 Centerview Drive, Suite 202, Columbia, SC, 29210.
