Table of Contents

No matter whether students wish to pursue an associate’s degree, or go on to eventually get their doctorate, there is a nursing education program that suits them. After graduation, it doesn’t matter whether new nurses want to go work for a large, busy hospital in the city, or a small, private practice in the country- Missouri offers just as much variety in work environments as it does in educational programs.

Missouri schools also have a very good pass rate when it comes to nursing examinations. Most are well over 90%, and there are plenty that have a 100% pass rate. This means that if you enroll in a Missouri nursing program, you can be sure that you’ll be getting a quality education in everything you need to know.

Career Opportunities for Missouri Nurses

When it comes to things like large benefits packages and sign-on bonuses, a staff nurse position at a large hospital is a new nurse’s holy grail. Missouri does have plenty of large hospitals that can provide things like generous salaries, but there are also plenty of other job opportunities available for nurses that would just as soon avoid the hustle and bustle of working in a large hospital setting. These places are generally not able to offer the same kind of compensation offered by a large hospital, but there may be tuition reimbursement offers or other incentives in place that make them worth considering.

Missouri is comprised of everything from metropolitan areas to very rural settings, and nursing salaries vary accordingly. An RN in St. Louis can look forward to earning a median annual income of around $66,000, while a nurse in Springfield would earn around $59,000. These are median figures, and represent an actual range of $48,000 to $73,000. All figures are from the BLS.

Missouri Board of Nursing

The Missouri Board of Nursing is every nurse and nursing student’s resource for information on every aspect of the nursing industry within Missouri. The information covered by the Board of Nursing includes licensing and examination information, patient safety and complaints, approved schools, scope of nursing practice in Missouri, and more. The Missouri Board of Nursing can be reached at 3605 Missouri Boulevard, P.O. Box 656, Jefferson City, Missouri, 65102-0656.
