Career Options for MA Nurses

Though many people assume that a nurse’s end goal is to work for a hospital, the truth is that there are plenty of other career options for an RN, LPN, APRN, or even a CNA in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts salaries for nurses varies depending on both the area of the state that the nurse is working in, and what kind of health care center he or she is employed by. The median salary for an RN in Brockton, for example, is nearly $70,000, while in Boston it’s over $73,000, and Pittsfield’s is around $67,000. This isn’t including other incentives, like sign on bonuses and benefits. In virtually all areas of Massachusetts, the median salary for nurses is well above the national average, and sign on bonuses for new hires often tops $10,000. All figures are from the BLS.

Massachusetts’ Board of Registration in Nursing

Massachusetts’ Board of Registration in Nursing is a division of their Health and Human Services department, and is an invaluable resource for nurses and nursing students alike. Through the Board of Registration in Nursing, people can get information on licensing and examination requirements, approved nursing education programs in the state of Massachusetts, continuing education requirements, and more. The Board of Registration in Nursing can be reached through their website, or at Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 239 Causeway Street, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA, 02114.
