The University of Pittsburgh offers the Adena Johnson Davis Nursing Scholarship to encourage minority and disadvantaged students to pursue careers in nursing by providing financial support.

Akron General Nursing – Service League Nursing Scholarship

The Akron General Medical Center provides scholarship funds to students enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, Baccalaureate program, with in the state of Ohio. Alexander Graham Bell College Scholarship Awards

The Alexander Graham Bell Association provides scholarships to students enrolled full-time in undergraduate or graduate degree programs. Even those who are hearing impaired can still seek out a career in nursing.  With so many fields of nursing, there are many opportunities available.

Funds available range from $1,000 – $10,000

Eligibility includes students who are deaf or hard of hearing. It is a very competitive merit-based scholarship so need has little bearing on eligibility. Hearing loss must be moderate to profound, bilateral, and diagnosed in early childhood.

This scholarship provides funds of $2,000 to $5,000 to students pursuing secondary education in health care fields. You should be already enrolled and attending studies, but if you need more financial aid to help you complete your program this may be the scholarship  for you.

John Murray Student Nurse Essay Contest

A.C.N.M. Foundation Scholarships

20th Century Midwives

This award is for essays written about midwife interviews and what the student learned.  There are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes ranging from $200 to $1000.

AHNA American Holistic Nurses Association

AHNA Charlotte McGuire Scholarship Fund

The American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) has sponsored this scholarship since 1986. AMA – Doctoral Degree Scholarship in Cancer Nursing

American Council of the Blind Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the American Council of the Blind. Students wishing to enter in to the nursing field are eligible. Keep in mind though there may be some restrictions as to how and where you may practice as a nurse if deemed legally blind, there are still opportunities available.

If the blindness occurs during your nursing career, limiting your practice, then this is a scholarship you could seek to re-educate yourself in another field or career.

American Holistic Nurses Association Research Grant

The AHNA awards research grant monies to AHNA members including doctoral students, who wish to conduct research on any topic related to holistic nursing and healthcare. (The) American Legion Department of Arkansas

The American Legion has always believed in strong school systems and good education for youth. Therefore, in partnership with several other organizations, several scholarships are made available to students wishing to seek higher education. They offer 4 scholarships, each in the amount of $2,000 paid in two installments. Undergraduate or higher studies in nursing will definitely be considered.

Coudret Trust Scholarship

This scholarship is provided to a high school graduate who will be entering any two years college program in Arkansas, or has already graduated from the same.

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship

This scholarship is provided to any student whose parent was killed while on active military duty. The student must be pursuing a secondary education of undergraduate studies

American Legion Samsung Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to decedents of wartime USA Veterans. The students, as a high school junior, must have participated in and American legion Boys or Auxiliary girl’s state program, and are now enrolled in any undergraduate studies, such as nursing.

There are several scholarships available through the American Legion Auxiliary. Each requires the applicant to be a child of USA military personnel, past or present, and that the student be attending a college or university within California. The scholarships range from $500 to $2,000 and most could be applied toward nursing education

American Legion – Missouri Department of American Legion

This branch of the American Legion offers several scholarships that would be useful for assisting your nursing studies.  Students must be attending their post-secondary studies at a college or university within the state of Missouri.

Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship

Two of these scholarships are awarded each year, at a value of $500 each, to students attending full-time studies at a college or university. You must be unmarried and under the age of 21 years.

Eligibility includes membership in the legion, whether personally or because a family member. It is based on financial need for a senior high school student headed for secondary education studies

This scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1,000 ($500 per semester) to a student who served at least 90 days with the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard or Air Force. They must be enrolled in full-time studies at any college or university within the state of Missouri

Joseph J. Frank Scholarship

Five of the scholarships are awarded annually, each for $500. Recipients must have attended a full session of the Missouri boys or girls state program.  It is based on the financial need of a graduating high school student who has a financial help to attend post-secondary education.

Eligibility for this scholarship includes being a descendent of someone who served honorably with one of the U.S military forces.

Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship Fund

Recipients must have attended a full session of the Missouri boys or girls state program, or the Missouri Cadet Patrol Academy.  It is based on the financial need of a graduating high school student who has a financial help to attend post-secondary education.

Eligibility includes being a descendent of a veteran, being under the age of 21 years, a resident of Missouri and attending full time studies at a college or university.

M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Nurses Scholarship

This scholarship is for $750.00 and may be reapplied for one time only. It is granted to a graduating high school student with demonstrated financial need to attend nurses training.

Eligibility includes being a descendent of a veteran, being under the age of 21 years, a resident of Missouri and attending full time studies at a college or university.

American Legion Auxiliary Department of Nebraska

This auxiliary offers several scholarships that can be used towards a nursing degree. They also offer access to the national American Legion Scholarships.

Roberta Marie Stretch memorial Scholarship

This scholarship of $400 is offered to a student entering a four year program for undergraduate or graduate studies.  The applicant must be a resident of the state of Nebraska and have parents, grandparents or some other relative who is a legion member

Nurse’s Scholarship

This scholarship is provided to a high school graduate entering nurses training (must already have letter of acceptance from the college or university), or a student already enrolled in training.  The value awarded is $400

The American Legion Department of New Jersey – Scholarship

American Nephrology Nurse’s Association

The ANNA has a number of scholarships and grants available to nurses for career mobility, clinical practice and research. These funds run generally from $1,000 to $2,500.  Eligibility differs somewhat for each, but membership in the ANNA is a constant.

Career Mobility Scholarships

There are five of these scholarships: the ANNA Career Mobility (5 at $2,000), Abbott/Pamela Balzer Career Mobility ($2,500), Alcavis International Inc. Career Mobility ($2,500), the Janel Parker Career Mobilty ($2,500) and the NNCC Career Mobility (3 at $2,000)

ANNA Clinical Practice Grant

Granted for a new or “project in progress” clinical practice project. These projects can focus on a number of areas, such as research, outcomes, evaluations, implementations or education. Three grants may be awarded, for up to $2,500

Gloria Scharf Beedie Memorial Grant

This grant awards $1,000 to a project directed toward patient education or quality of life issues. The project may be new or one already established that needs further support and development.

ANA – Minority Fellowship Program

This funding is available to Master prepared nurses wishing to focus their career in the area of mental illness prevention and treatment, as well as substance abuse.

There are two separate fellowships offered, one pre-Doctoral and one post-Doctoral. The pre-Doctoral is for nurses studying “minority psychiatric mental health and substance abuse; it is a 3 – 5 year support. The post-Doctoral is a 1- 2 year fellowship assisting nurses to strengthen their research skills and expand on their depth of knowledge and understanding of issues in mental health and substance abuse.

Eligibility for both includes being a member of the ANA as well as an ethnic/racial minority group.

Ann Olson Memorial Doctoral Scholarship
The Oncology Nursing Society Foundation offers the Ann Olson Memorial Doctoral Scholarship to improve oncology nursing by assisting registered nurses in completing their nursing education.   This award is supported by Pfizer Oncology and is named after Ann Olson, an oncology sales representative who died of cancer in 1989. Army Health Care – U.S. Army

The United States Army provides great opportunities for persons wishing to become health care professionals. They have specific opportunities for those wishing to become nurses. Nurses’ training is fully funded, and the student also receives a living allowance during training.

Upon graduation you will become a nursing officer of the U.S. Army.

Undergraduate Health Care Education – Active Nurse Corps Program

Students pursuing a BSN will receive $5,000 at the beginning of their program and upon graduating. They also receive $1,000 monthly allowance.

Reserve Nurse Corps Program

This is open to students who already posses an RN degree and are seeking to advance their education to a BSN level.  Students receive a monthly allowance of $1,900 and upon graduation are expected to serve a one year term in the Army Reserve

ROTC for Nursing Students

These scholarships are offered for 2, 3 and 4 year programs. Enrolling in the ROTC and  doing your nursing training through them can open up many new learning experiences for nurses. It is also nice not to have to worry about tuition costs so much; allowing you to concentrate on your nursing training instead.

Association of Nurses in Aids Care (ANAC) Grant
The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing offers the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) Grant to increase the number of nurses conducting HIV/AIDS research that is focused on symptom management, HIV prevention and self-care.
