Now known as Indiana Wesleyan University, the university serves over 15,000 students and offers associates through doctoral level degrees in over 80 majors, including art, theology and education. Indiana Wesleyan University offers an online post RN baccalaureate degree that current registered nurses can complete from the comfort of their home. Nurses will take courses in gerontology, ethics, leadership and management and alternative therapies.
Duration and Cost
The program can be completed in 19 months as courses are taken in sequence, one at a time. Tuition for the bachelor’s degree program is about $15,000 and requires 40 credits to complete.
Online Master’s Degrees in Nursing
Indiana Wesleyan University offers three specializations in their online master’s degree programs, a combined MSN/MBA program, Nursing Administration, and Nursing Education. The MSN/MBA program focuses on integrating nursing and business schools to manage an effective healthcare system. Courses include organizational leadership, applied managerial accounting and healthcare policy. The Nursing Administration program is designed to meet the competencies and standards of the American Organization of Nursing Executives (AONE). Nurses will develop sound leadership skills and foundational preparation for educating positions in post-secondary institutions. Coursework for the Nurse Administrator course includes organization and finance of health care, theoretical foundations of advanced nursing and a practicum. Students in the Nursing Education concentration will develop skills and knowledge to deliver effective education. Coursework includes teaching and learning strategies, advanced nursing instruction, and a student-teaching component.
Duration and Cost
The master’s courses range in requirements from 38 to 60 credits, and $495-500 per credit hour.
Online Certificate Degree in Nursing
The Certificate in Parish Nursing is designed for RNs who would like to use their services in a church or congregational setting. In the current economic season, many find themselves unable to identify and treat basic health needs with the loss of insurance tied to employment. Parish Nurses will take courses in counseling theory; theology, healing and healthcare and spiritual care across the lifespan to prepare for their role as a parish nurse. Upon completion of the program nurses will be able to plan, coordinate and implement teaching and learning opportunities that will assist the church in health and wellness promotion.
Duration and Cost
This 15 credit program costs $316 per credit.
