Holy Family University Nursing School Review

Success for its students is the main goal of Holy Family University (HFU) in Pennsylvania. The over 3,000 students enter a program created by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth to provide a comprehensive education and personal training opportunity. Within the University students are encouraged to explore their dreams and aspirations, and are allowed the support and training to reach these goals.

Nursing Program

Nursing is a field that embraces a wide range of people. The youngest of new graduates to mature adults can seek an exciting new career in the field and provide nurturing, life-improving care to patients in a variety of settings. The Nursing Program at Holy Family University strives to develop the human aspect of a total Nursing education to produce nurses who see beyond the medical aspect of a patient to the actual person. Within this program students are able to progress through advanced levels of education and prepare for licensing exams as well as enhanced career opportunities.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

This fully accredited program prepares students for the title of Registered Nurse. RNs provide basic bedside care as well as filling managerial and supervisory roles in medical settings. Compassionate care and communication with both the patient and his loved ones mark the main responsibilities of a Registered Nurse. This program is a pre-licensure course of study is offered only a full-time program and requires attendance at either classroom lectures or facility-based clinical experiences five days a week. Completion of this program earns the student a BSN degree and prepares him for employment or for the pursuit of graduate education.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Accelerated Program

Registered Nurses already holding a valid license are able to pursue a baccalaureate degree on an accelerated track. The BSN Accelerated Program allows RNs to apply previous academic achievements and clinical experience to the course work of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The flexible format of the course allows working RNs to complete the program while still maintaining other personal obligations.

Master of Science in Nursing

Motivated students wishing to further advance their education and training into the graduate level are offered a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program. Holy Family University’s MSN is an intensive course of study that prepares students for high level occupations within the nursing field. The program integrates study of issues such as ethics and research with complex nursing topics and offers students a choice of concentrations. Students within this program can choose to study Education, Administration, or Community Health. Each of these specializations offers unique opportunities for employment and service within the healthcare system.

Post-Master’s Certificate Programs

Students who already hold a Master’s degree are eligible to enhance this knowledge through earning a Nursing Educator or Nursing Administration Post-Master’s Certificate. Certification in one of these areas offers attractive credentials that appeal to potential employers and broaden a nurse’s repertoire of skills and knowledge.

The training offered by Holy Family University focuses not just on preparing future nurses to provide medical treatment or life care, but encourages these students to truly embrace the nurturing human aspect of providing such care.
