Grand Canyon University strives to serve both traditional and working students alike.  The university has a mission of incorporating Christian values in its education and teaching students practical applications of Christianity in the workplace.

Though founded in 1949 by the Southern Baptist Church, the university recently went public in hopes of expanding its reach and resources. The parent company of the institution is Grand Canyon Education. With course offerings in business, fine arts and production, business, social sciences, and approximately 5,000 students, Grand Canyon University is on the way to its goal.

Online Nursing and Health Care Degrees Review

Grand Canyon University students take courses one course at a time and are available 24/7 for students to complete their programs.  Course offerings include university foundations, global perspectives, and nursing from a Christian worldview.

Online Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

The online Registered Nurse to Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree program provides the bridge for nurses to go from a diploma or an associate’s degree to a four-year degree and advance career opportunities.

Duration and Cost

The online RN to BSN program is approximately $55,000 and requires 120 credits total, 36 of which are actual core credits to be completed at Grand Canyon University.

Online Master’s Degrees in Nursing

Bridge Programs

The bridge programs are designed to assist registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing to meet the necessary pre-requisites to enter the MSN degree program.  Students complete a modified RN to BSN program and culminate with enrollment and completion of one of the master’s degree options below.

Duration and Cost

Bridge program tuition fees are approximately $9,000 for the bridge courses, plus the applicable master’s degree fees.  Course length ranges from 54 credits to 84 credits for the dual degree MBA program.

Master’s degree of Science in Nursing

There are five online master’s of science in nursing degree options, each with a focused specialization.  The five specializations are Health Care Informatics, Nursing Education, Public Health, and Nursing Leadership in Health Care Systems, the last of which is also offered as a dual degree option along with an MBA.

Duration and Cost

Master’s course tuition fees range from $20,000 to $37,000, and course length ranges from 36 credits to 66 credits for the dual degree MBA program.

Online Certificates in Nursing

The Post-master’s Degree Certificate in Nursing Education offers students the opportunity to become a staff educator or faculty educator in a traditional or non-traditional college.  In addition to exploring nursing topics through an evidence-based model, students will learn assessment and curriculum development techniques.

Duration and Cost

The post-master’s degree certificate fees are approximately $12,000, and the course length is 20 credits.

Faculty

A large number of nursing faculty are available to assist students and have a wide variety of qualifications and backgrounds. Several have over 20 years of experience in the field.  A designated group of full-time nursing faculty teaches exclusively for the online program.
