Faulkner State Community College (FSCC) was established in 1963 and is in Baldwin County with three different locations. It is a public establishment that offers an assortment of traditional classes along with online classes offered through the internet for flexibility in the students’ interest. They offer development in the workforce preparation area, technical certificates, as well as associate degrees in many different professional areas. Students who complete an associate program from this institution may move on to a four-year institution.

Faulkner State Community College Nursing Program Review

The nursing programs at Faulkner State Community College are accredited through the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission out of Atlanta. Five different programs of study are available at this institution to accommodate students at every level for the start of their career in the nursing workforce.

Pre-Nursing – Associate in Science Degree

This program is designed for students that are considering going on to a four year institution or university. It is a four term program that includes teaching the very basics of the nursing profession. With this program, students are prepped to enter into the professional courses of the nursing profession and will have the basic knowledge and elective courses out of the way to go on and concentrate solely on the getting the ethic, legal, and clinical experiences of the nursing workforce.

Nursing Mobility – LPN to RN – Associate in Applied Science Degree

The nursing mobility plan is a program of courses plotted out to assist students who already have a license in Practical Nursing (LPN) to achieve their license to become a Registered Nurse (RN). After completing this program, LPNs may be able to sit for the National Council Licensure Exam. Students need to have valid licensure through the Boards of Nursing and must be in good standing with the board in order to sit for the examination. This is a three term program of full time study.

Nursing RN – Associate Degree Nurse – Associate in Applied Science Degree

The RN program at Faulkner State Community College is a five term, full time day course of study that allows students to achieve the completion of the classes and may sit for the National Council Licensure Exam upon completion. These students will have the knowledge and abilities crucial to becoming a professional nurse in the workforce. Students must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing in order to qualify to sit for the exam and should be aware of the situations that could potentially lead to being denied to take the examination.

Nursing – Practical Nurse – LPN – Certificate Program

This program of study is designed to train students to receive their certificate in Practical Nursing (PN). It is a three term certificate program that can enable the student to take the National Council Licensure Exam. This program provides the student with the knowledge and skills to become a productive member of the nursing community. The skills learned here teach students to care for patients throughout their lifetimes from childhood to late adulthood.

ADN Transfer to LPN Program (AND to LPN)

Students who are in the two year Associate Degree (ADN) program may opt to transfer to the Practical Nursing (PN) program. Students who choose to do take this option will want to make certain that there is room in the PN program before starting the process as admission is limited by how many positions are available. Certain requirements are mandatory to make this switch. After completion of the PN program, students are eligible to apply to take the licensing test to start work as an LPN after successful passing.
