Auburn University at Montgomery Nursing School Review

Auburn Montgomery is the urban based campus of Auburn University. The University offers highly esteemed, qualified academic programs in an environment that is considerate to its students while providing them with challenging curriculum and pushing them to achieve their academic goals. The institution was chosen as one of the best colleges in the South by The Princeton Review. It was established in 1967 as an act of the Alabama Legislature and started calling itself Auburn University at Montgomery since 2007.

Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) has several different programs for education organized into five different categories offering a diverse network of professionals offered to each student in order to broaden their horizons and reach out to other peers of different backgrounds, cultures, and professional goals.

The Auburn Montgomery School of Nursing

AUM offers the school of nursing in a joint effort between the main campus of AU (Auburn University) and the Montgomery based campus. The School of Nursing at Auburn University Montgomery offers nursing students the opportunity to earn their first time nursing degree or continue their education in this field of study. With three different programs of study available, students can customize a route of instruction to keep their professional and academic goals on track. AUM School of Nursing is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and sanctioned by the Alabama Board of Nursing. It is also a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

BSN Program

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program at AUM is among the top programs in the state of Alabama. The pass rates on the Registered Nurse licensure examination by graduates from this institution are well above the norms for other schools in the state as well as across the nation with pass rates regularly in the top percentile. Customarily this four year program has two parts; a pre-nursing section and a professional nursing section. The pre-nursing segment of this program offers education to the student as to the general sciences of the nursing profession. After completion of this segment, the student can then apply to be educated on the ethics and most current procedures in the nursing workforce.

RN to BSN (EARN)

The AUM Educational Advancement for Registered Nurses or EARN, is intended for RNs who desire to continue their education and receive a BSN degree. It is in this program that the nurses bring with them the knowledge and experience they have already acquired that are the building blocks for their success. With only three semesters of full time study required to finish this degree usually, an RN can build upon his or her knowledge to take their career to the next level. Students may elect to attend classes with some offered online through the “Hybrid Track” on campus or do the entire curriculum online.

MSN Program

Whether the goal is becoming a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or a Nurse Educator, the Master of Science in Nursing  Program offered at Auburn University Montgomery allows the student to pursue a better future for themselves, as well as making patients’ lives better while in the care of nursing professionals or earn the training to help educate other nurses.
