The University of Washington is a public institution located on a 643-acre campus in Seattle, Washington.  Founded in 1861, it was originally known as the Territorial University of Washington. It is home to 16 academic divisions and enrolls over 40,000 students. The University of Washington School of Nursing offers the Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Program to students who have already earned a bachelors degree in a field other than nursing. This BSN second degree program allows students to earn a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree after 5 quarters of full-time classroom and clinical work. To qualify for this ABSN (Accelerated BSN) degree program, the student must have already earned a bachelors degree in a field other than nursing and must have completed the following prerequisite courses:  Statistics, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology, General Microbiology, Nutrition, and Lifespan Growth and Development.  The student must also have completed at least 100 hours of healthcare experience working with registered nurses within twelve months prior to applying. The application deadline is in October.
