Arkansas State University (ASU) is a public university located in Jonesboro, Arkansas and is part of the Arkansas State University System.  In 1909, the Arkansas legislature created ASU as an agricultural training school called First District Agricultural School.  In 1967 the Arkansas Legislature promoted the school to university status and changed its name to Arkansas State University.

Today ASU has over 13,000 students and offers 43 different degrees in 156 fields of study.  The ASU College of Nursing and Health Professions offers several undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including a Second Bachelor’s Degree Accelerated option.  This accelerated 2nd degree BSN program allows students who have already earned a bachelors degree in another field to earn a BSN degree in one year.  To qualify for this second degree ABSN (Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program, the applicant must also have completed the required prerequisite course work.  Special consideration will be given to applicants who are proficient in Spanish and to those who have a degree in a clinical health care field.  The application deadline is March 15.
