Michigan State University

Michigan State University was founded in 1855 as the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan. Duration and Cost

The program requires approximately 32 credits long assuming that 60 credits are transferred in. An additional 30 credits are transferred for completing the NCLEX exam.  The program is approximately 2 years long. Online Master’s Degree in Nursing

Online master degree programs at Michigan State University are offered with three specializations; however only the Clinical Nurse Specialist-Education (CNS-Ed) option is offered completely online.  A hybrid (combined online and in-person delivery) program for Nurse Practitioners and a campus based Anesthesia program are also offered.  The CNS-Ed option prepares graduates to take both the ANCC certification as Adult CNS, and the National League for Nursing (NLN) Education Certification.  Nurses with the CNS-Ed specialization are prepared both to teach nurses and implement and lead strategies to improve patient care.

Duration and Cost

The program requires students to complete approximately 46-50 credits, and can be completed in 2-3 years full or part-time.  Program fees are $607.25 to $632.325 per credit for resident and non-residents respectively.

Online Certificates in Nursing

Clinical Nurse Specialist certifications are offered completely online.  The Clinical Nurse Specialist certificate offers courses in Clinical Decision Making, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology.

Duration and Cost

The Clinical Nurse specialist certificate is 25 credits and requires approximately one to two years long.  Program fees are $607.25 to $632.325 per credit for resident and non-residents respectively.
