University of Wisconsin Green Bay


The year of 1965 was one of celebration for Green Bay, with the Packers winning their first championship, the inaugural campus of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay receiving donated land and campus construction beginning for the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.  The Green Bay campus of the University of Wisconsin was founded in 1965, with a plan for problem-solving-based, interdisciplinary study.

This regional, public university serves over 6,000 students, and is part of the University of Wisconsin system. Programs of study include over 40 undergraduate and graduate programs in addition to 12 pre-professional programs.  Popular majors include Business Administration, Psychology, Human Biology, Human Development, Communication, Elementary Education, Nursing, Accounting, Interdisciplinary Studies, and English.

Online Nursing and Health Care Degrees Review

The University of Wisconsin at Green Bay offers 1 online degree completion program, a Registered Nurse to Bachelor’s of Science (RN to BSN) degree in Nursing program. The program also offers a campus-based BSN degree. Students may participate in study abroad programs to learn about health care and health systems in other countries.

Online Bachelor’s Degrees in Nursing

The online Bachelors Degree in Nursing program at the University of Wisconsin offers the opportunity to engage with peers through distance learning, while also offering a flexible scheduling opportunity for students seeking to earn their degree at their own convenience.  The BSN Home program is for students who desire to study online and live in Wisconsin. For aspiring BSN students outside of Wisconsin, a BSN can be pursued through the BSN-Linc program.  Students in the BSN-Home program may choose the closest institution in the University of Wisconsin network to pursue their studies.  Campuses in the network include Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Eau Claire, Madison and Green Bay.  Though flexible, the course does have deadlines and requires students to comment on their peer’s submissions and submit online assignments in a timely matter.  Courses in the program include:

Duration and Cost

The BSN degree is 120 credits, half of which are typically transferred from previous educational experiences at the associate’s degree level.  Tuition for the BSN Linc program is $405 per credit.  Spring 2012 tuition for the BSN home program is $428 per credit.

Faculty at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay are knowledgeable in their areas of expertise, and have experience teaching adult learners.

Things to consider:

  • The BSN-Home program requires some campus-based course attendance; students in the BSN-Linc program are not required to come to campus.
  • Students are required to find and obtain required course materials on their own.
  • Clinical is required for the BSN Linc program, and may be completed in the student’s home state.

Accreditation

The University of Wisconsin Green Bay is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities.  Nursing programs at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).  The institution was accredited by both NLNAC (National League for Nursing Accreditation Committee) and CCNE and elected to maintain only the CCNE accreditation.
