Mount Marty College is a private Catholic college founded by the Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery. Today, the college serves just over 1,000 students. Mount Marty College was established in 1936.

Mount Marty College offers nursing masters programs in the following areas:
Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
Advanced Public Health Nurse Leader
Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

The above MSN programs are offered online, and a campus-based Masters in Nurse Anesthesia program is available. The MS CRNA program takes approximately 2.5 years to complete. Students enrolled in the Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Public Health nurse leader tracks will be eligible to sit the certification exam in their specialty upon completing the MSN program.

Nurses applying to the RN to MSN program should have a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. It is preferred that applicants have at least two years of experience prior to entering the nursing program, but applicants with one year of experience will be considered for admission to the program. Applicants to the Masters of Science in Nurse Anesthesia program must meet additional requirements in order to be considered for admission.

South Dakota State University serves more than 15,500 students. The main campus is located in the city of Brookings with additional course offerings in Rapid City, Aberdeen and Sioux Falls. South Dakota State University was established in 1881.

South Dakota state university offers an RN to MSN program for nurses with an associate’s degree or diploma aspiring to earn a master’s degree in nursing. The College of Nursing also offers several MSN tracks for nurses with a bachelors degree. Tracks in the MSN program include Clinical Nursing Leadership (Clinical Nurse Leader or Administrator focus) and Nurse Educator.

The MSN programs at South Dakota State University are flexible and delivered in a hybrid format. Students will complete most of their coursework online, and go to the South Dakota State University campus on select dates throughout the program. The Master of Science in Nursing programs can be completed in four to five years of study.

In order to apply to the RN to MSN program, applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a prerequisite course in statistics completed no more than five years prior to applying to the nursing masters program. Applicants to the nursing masters program for bachelors prepared nurses should have a BSN or equivalent from a CCNE or NLNAC accredited program. Coursework in statistics, community health nursing and physical assessment is required.
