The college is part of the larger Bryan LGH System which includes a number of Medical centers and a Heart Institute. The College offers a 4-year Undergraduate bachelors degree in nursing for students seeking initial licensure as registered nurses. Ideal candidates are high school graduates with an ACT composite score of 20 or an equivalent SAT and a high School GPA of 2.75. A personal interview is part of the admission process.
The 128 semester hours consist of 64 hours of professional nursing coursework while 58 consists of the general education curriculum and 6 of non-nursing free elective courses. With the college having its own well renowned and highly rated Bryan LGH Medical Centers, students enjoy unlimited clinical classes to back-up what is taught in the simulation labs. Clarkson College

The Clarkson College has a long history running over a century of offering nurse training. The generic bachelor of nursing science is one of the 3 undergraduate nursing tracks offered at the college. It is a four-year program designed to prepare students to take the NLCEX-RN exam to become registered nurses. Besides taking the BSN curriculum at Clarkson, interested students can enroll for the Co-op Program with Grace University. This option allows students to take courses from both programs at tandem and graduate with two degrees from each university: a BSN from Clarkson and a Biblical Studies Degree from Grace University. For nursing courses, the college has formed excellent affiliations with Nebraska Medical Center where students take most of their clinical practice. This association has also developed the prestigious “Gateway to Success Minority Nursing Scholarship” to pay tuition fees for minority students.

Creighton University

The baccalaureate nursing program at Creighton University offer students direct entry at freshman year without the need of a supplemental nursing application. The program offers various degree completion pathways/options to students with varied interests. Traditional students who wish to take the program at a slower pace can do so through the slower traditional 5-year plan as opposed to the fast-paced regular 4-year plan. Among other completion options include the Study Abroad study plans which include affiliate, bilateral exchange, multilateral exchange, associate and faculty-led programs in multiple countries throughout the globe. Students may also choose to take the BSN as a Pre-Medical degree or as an Air Force ROTC path or Army ROTC path. Students should check with the University for Specific Details on this study plans. For any of the options chosen above, students have the choice of the 4 or 5-year progression plan. The program is offered at the both the main campus at Omaha and Hastings Campus.

Midland Lutheran University

At Midland Lutheran, students taking the bachelors nursing programs assume a holistic approach through a curriculum that incorporates liberal arts, community & societal wellness and nursing courses. Starting with prerequisite courses, students interested in the major must complete a 76-hour nursing assistant courses prior to taking any upper division nursing courses. Interested students at junior level may also choose between two minors; gerontology and nutrition minors that can be taken along with the major. By the end of the program, students are usually academically eligible to take the NLCEX-RN exam to become registered nurses.

Nebraska Methodist College

NMC was established with nursing as it pioneer program more than a century ago. With this history, the college prides to offer one of the most time-tested CCNE accredited programs in the state of Nebraska. NMC is a private non-profit college and nursing students enjoy a small faculty to student ratio typical of a small college. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing takes 4 years to complete and is centered on community-based healthcare. High school graduates with ACT composite scores of 20 or better and high School GPA of 2.5 or higher are the ideal candidates. With the affiliation is has with the Nebraska Methodist Medical Center, students are well exposed to clinical practice starting as early as the first year. New students are admitted twice annually for fall and spring semesters but applications are always open and can be sent throughout the year.

Union College

Admission to Union College is separate from admission to the upper division nursing track. Students interested in the nursing major must complete a set of prerequisites courses upon admission prior to applying to the nursing track. Upon completion of prerequisites with a minimum GPA of 2.75, applications to the upper division can be completed but students have to take the TEAS nurses entrance exam. Candidates must note that attaining minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Transfer students who have completed prerequisites courses are also welcome to apply to the professional phase. Admissions are held twice annually for fall and spring semesters. As part of community outreach programs, students go to Central America for the Frontier study abroad program. Upon admission, students must maintain a GPA of 2.50 to ensure retention in the program and eligibility for the NLCEX-RN exam.

University of Nebraska Medical Center

UNMC offers the upper division traditional BSN program in five locations across the state namely Omaha, Lincoln, Norfolk, Kearney and Scottsbluff. Students are admitted at junior level and as such, all preparatory courses totaling to 58 credits must have been completed at University of Nebraska or any other accredited college. Such courses in the lower division must be completed with a minimum GPA of 2.5 with a grade “C” or better in each course. A limited number of students who are above the minimum admission requirements are offered honor/guaranteed admission. While making an application, students must complete one application with the first campus of choice followed by a supplemental application indicating in order of preference the campus they would wish to be admitted to besides the first choice. Upon admission, students start straight on nursing courses either on 2-year plan of full time study of a slower pace for part time students. Admission occurs once annually for classes starting august semester.
