This University is based in Henderson, Nevada minutes from the popular tourist destination of Las Vegas. Founded in 2004, Touro University Nevada enrolls nearly 1,500 students.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Touro University is unique in that it offers three start dates in the spring summer or fall. The DNP program is a six-semester, 39 credit program that may be completed on full or part-time study. Students can focus their clinical practice component in one of several areas including informatics, health information systems, or population-based studies. Though mostly online, students will gain interaction with faculty and colleagues through required on-campus intensive meetings.

In order to apply to the DNP program, nurses should have a masters degree, though it does not necessarily have to be in nursing. At least one degree, bachelors or masters should be in nursing. The minimum GPA for consideration to the DNP program is 3.0. Prerequisite courses include nursing theory, nursing research and a statistics course which should have been completed within the past 5 years. A key component in the application process for the nursing program is the DNP application portfolio. Nurses must submit a nursing portfolio which includes a resume, personal statement, research statement, academic essay on a topic given by the admissions committee and other forms.

The University of Nevada Las Vegas is one of two universities in the University of Nevada system, the other university being located in Reno. The university is located in Paradise, Nevada, less than two miles from the Las Vegas strip. UNLV was established in 1957 and serves over 25,000 students.

The University of Nevada Las Vegas offers both Doctor of Nursing Practice and PhD in Nursing programs. The School of Nursing PhD program (SON PhD) offers two areas of focus, urban sustainability and nurse educator. The nursing doctoral program is delivered online, but requires students to attend campus once each year prior to the start of fall semester. Out of state students are eligible for a tuition discount. Applications to the PhD in Nursing program are due annually in February in order to be admitted in the fall. Students may complete the doctoral nursing program in as little as three years, though up to six years of study is permitted. Admission requirements to the nursing PhD include a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and MSN or other healthcare oriented masters degree. GRE scores and prerequisites courses in statistics and research are required.

The DNP program at the University of Nevada Las Vegas is offered as a collaborative program with the University of Nevada Reno. The UNDNP (University of Nevada (Doctor of Nursing Practice) program is offered online, with some course attendance required as with the PhD in Nursing program. Nurses may choose from an advanced practice or nurse executive/administrator focus. Nurses with a Masters of Science in Nursing are eligible to apply for the UNDNP program.

The University of Nevada Reno was founded in 1874, and is one of the oldest universities in the area. The university of Nevada system includes campuses in Las Vegas and Reno. More than 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students are served each year at the University of Nevada Reno (UNR).

The Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada Reno offers the UNDNP, which is offered in collaboration with the University of Nevada Las Vegas. The UNR/UNLV Doctor of Nursing Practice is an online DNP program, which requires nursing students to attend on-campus sessions for a few days each year. The DNP program consists, of cohorts which go through the entire doctoral program together. Each cohort includes 14 to 15 students. The DNP program is 39 credits and may be completed in two years of full-time or three years of part-time study. Students who apply and enroll in the UNDNP program through the University of Nevada Reno will earn the DNP from the University of Nevada Reno campus.

To be admitted to the DNP program, students must have a masters degree in nursing or a related healthcare field. Applicants should hold a BSN or MSN, at least one degree should be in nursing. DNP applicants do not need to take the GRE to be considered for admission to the doctoral program, but should have a masters GPA of at least 3.5.
