Spring Hill College Nursing Program Review

Spring Hill College (SHC) is a private Catholic college located in Mobile, Alabama. This school is dedicated to bringing their students the most individualized learning experience possible. The faculty member to student ratio is thirteen to one. This college was established in 1830 as a boarding school where students could enter at age nine. This type of learning went on until 1935 when it became a college.

Spring Hill College Nursing Program Review

Spring Hill College provides prospective students with some of the top choices for entering the professional field of nursing in many health care settings with the know-how and skills training to begin their career. This college offers different options for future students looking to enroll in the nursing programs. Spring Hill College offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Master of Science in Nursing – Clinical Nurse Leader (MSN CNL), and a Continuing Studies Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Traditional Program

In the traditional program for students to obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), classes are held on campus during normal hours. Students learn the clinical techniques guided by professors, nurses, and other medical professionals, as well as learning academically in the classroom. These courses are designed to allow the student to become a meticulous, compassionate member of the nursing profession and teach the skills necessary to think quickly on their feet in emergency situations. This program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and is approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Courses are laid out into two different divisions, lower and upper. The lower level courses provide the student with basic nursing knowledge in order to set the stage for the upper division courses. The upper division courses delve into the world of professional nursing knowledge.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) – Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) – MSN-CNL

This program is conducted online and is only available to students who have a current license to practice as an RN in the state in which they are practicing, have at least one year of practice in a clinical setting, have admittance to a facility in the health care division for research or be working in a clinical setting, and meet the admissions requirements for the college’s admission process. Completion of this program can lead to the student obtaining a Post Master’s Certificate – Clinical. Students will learn to become a productive leader in the world of clinical nursing and have the opportunity to move up in rank in the nursing profession.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Continuing Studies

This non-traditional program is designed to accommodate working adults who want to receive this degree but need flexible hours in which to take the classes. These classes are held during evenings and on weekends with online classes offered as well through this program. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
