Online RN to BSN Nursing Program
The Undergraduate BSN program at Northeastern State University is for Registered Nurses (RNs) seeking to complete the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). Admission requirements to the RN to BSN nursing program include a minimum 2.0 GPA in coursework, a CPR card, current RN license, and graduation from an ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) or diploma program approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN). Coursework for the RN to BSN program is completed online or via video-conferencing to a Northeastern State University campus. The undergraduate nursing program strives to provide a high degree of flexibility to allow working RNs to maintain their personal and professional duties. Graduates of a nursing diploma program may be required to complete additional testing prior to being admitted to the online RN to BSN program. It is recommended that RNs have worked at least one year in the past three years or have completed an RN refresher course within the past year. The RN to BSN program requires prerequisites in humanities and written and oral communication. The RN to BSN program requires 60 credits of nursing education. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a BSN.

Master of Science in Nursing Education
Nurses with a BSN are eligible for the MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) with an emphasis in Nursing Education. Because the MSN program is delivered online, working nurses will have more flexibility. The MSN program strives to meet the need for nursing educators in the neighboring communities of Northeastern State University. Admission requirements for the program include a minimum 2.5 overall GPA or 3.0 GPA in the nursing program and a BSN from a nursing program accredited NLNAC or CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education). Students should also submit scores from the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) or Miller’s Analogies Test and have a current RN license. The MSN program can be completed in 32 hours of study. Autry Technology Center Nursing Program Review
Autry Technology Center (ATC, Autry Tech) first opened its doors in 1967 and was one of the first vocational-technical institutions to open in Oklahoma. Now, they serve thousands of people through various services and programs that can improve people’s career opportunities and developmental skills.
Autry Technology Center – Nursing
This program has been accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education (ODCTE) and the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN).
Practical Nursing
The first class of Practical Nursing in Autry Technology Center started in 1968 and the first evening class was added onto the roster in 1996. This program combines both classroom and clinical experience and lets students move at their own pace as they study. It covers all of the aspects needed to complete that national licensing exam for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Long Term Care Nursing Assistant
In a nutshell, nursing assistants care for sick people or those who need help taking care of themselves under the supervision of licensed nurses or doctors. This program takes 74 theory hours and 16 clinical hours to complete.
Medical Terminology
In a nutshell, medical terminology helps students learn about the language involves in medicine by teaching them word-learning skills that involve learning prefixes, roots, abbreviations and suffixes. This program takes 45 course hours to complete.
Structure and Function of the Body
This course is part of laboratory science and teaches students about the structural complexities and intricate functions of the body through fieldwork and scientific investigations. This program takes 120 course hours to complete.
Nursing Concepts
This course uses nursing concepts to teach students how to provide care along with other healthcare team members by focusing on teamwork, communication and learning in nursing, professionalism, human development, nursing law, nursing ethics, and health promotion.
Fundamentals of Learning
This introductory course to nursing care teaches students how to use nursing effectively, collect data, perform assessments, and provide patient education through documentation and the skills and principles of nursing, in general. Several special topics are also included in this course.
Pharmacology
This course teaches students all about medication administration skills and basic pharmacology, including effective and safe skills and IV therapy administration. This also nuclides electrolyte and fluid balance.
Medical Surgical Nursing II
This course builds on other courses’ concepts and focuses on illness prevention, overall healthcare, and health management and maintenance. It includes performing assessments, providing patient education, and using smart judgment.
Pediatrics
This course will teach students how to relate normal development and growth and how to tell what a child’s physical, social and emotional needs are.
Maternal Newborn Nursing
This course exists to help students get a holistic approach to caring for expectant mothers, new mothers and neonates. It includes the care of regular and complicated patients and babies, as well.
Mental Health Nursing
This course exists to help students learn how to deal with patients who have mental problems by teaching them about the different mental problems out there and how to treat them properly.
Transition to Professional Nursing
This course exists to teach students how to transition into becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). It includes beginner’s management, job readiness and organizational skills.

Bacone College Nursing Program Review
Bacone College (BC) was founded in 1880 and was the oldest college of continuing higher education. Today, they provide students with the chance to reflect how they can live, work and study together for a more meaningful experience in education that is committed to following Christian principles and values at the same time.
Bacone College – Nursing
This program has been accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and has been approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN).
Graduates can take the National Council Licensure Examination for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN).
Traditional 2-Year Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program
This program can be completed in two years and consists of general education courses and nursing courses, the latter of which involves classroom work and clinical experiences in various healthcare settings around Oklahoma. Students will have to take various tests as required by the state and get decent proficiency scores from them.
However, this program is still under review by the OBN by now in order to identify any improvements and changes that can be made to improve the program and make it stronger overall. Until all of the reviews have been completed, no new students will be admitted into the program.
Registered Nursing to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) Program
This degree completion program can be completed in 9 to 17 months. It exists solely for RNs who already have valid nursing licenses and consists of general education courses and nursing courses, as well. However, this program can also be taken online, if desired. Also, practicum experiences can be individual arranged as needed.
Licensed Practical Nursing to Registered Nursing (LPN to RN) Transition Program
This program exists for students who are already LPNs and have bachelor’s degrees, but wish to get a degree to become an RN, as well.

Center for American Indians
This center helps preserve the American Indian Collections that can be found at the school, as well as coordinate with American Indian cultural programs and degrees at the same time. This center helps the school nurture a more spiritual life on-campus by hosting three services a week, as well, and by providing spiritual guidance to those in need through small group ministry and counseling.

Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center Nursing Program Review
Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center (CKTC) trains students in the general area in their educational fields of choice. Founded in 1968 with only 200 students and 11 programs, Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center now has more than 800 students and 20 programs onboard.
Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center – Nursing
This program has been accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, the Oklahoma Board of Career and Technology Education and the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
Licensed Practical Nursing
Students who join this program will be able to work with other healthcare experts in order to provide top-notch patient care in various medical surroundings. They will experience an in-depth curriculum that includes relevant clinical and simulated instructions. They will also develop all of the medical skills, confidentiality and terminology needed to become great healthcare professionals in the future.
Graduates will be able to take the licensure exam to become an LPN, and they will also be able to delve into higher education or immediate employment, depending on their personal goals and needs. They can also look into scholarships, internships and certifications if they want to.
All of the courses that are part of the LPN program in Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center are taken at their main campus. Students will need to attend all of the courses full-time at 30 hours a week in order to complete the required 1463 hours of 17 months of study before graduation.
Students are held every weekday and consist of on-campus lab and academic instructions, and clinical experience outside of the campus. Clinical experience are usually done at cooperative facilities, like hospitals, home health settings or nursing homes. This program takes four consecutive semesters in total to complete.
Through this program, students will be able to get the clinical and academic education that they need in terms of treatment and identification as needed in their healthcare profession of choice. IT includes hands-on instructions in wound care, phlebotomy, anatomy and physiology, among other things, and they will learn what an LPN needs to do in terms of restrictions, ethics and legality.
To apply, students will need to complete and submit the LPN application form along with copies of their birth certificate, required immunizations, official transcripts, OKCIS and TABE test results, and three references. They will also need to have a valid driver’s license and a valid employment record in the last five years.

Canadian Valley Technology Center Nursing Program Review
Canadian Valley Technology Center (CVTC, CV Tech) caters to the majority of the Grady and Canadian counties. Right now, the school district has campuses in El Reno, Chickasha, Yukon, West Oklahoma City and Mustang areas, though they have a small training facility at Tuttle, too.
Canadian Valley Technology Center – Nursing
This program has been approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and has been accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and the Oklahoma Department of CareerTech.
Practical Nursing
This program can only be taken at Canadian Valley Technology Center’s El Reno and Chickasha campuses and is an open-entry and open-exit individualized program. This means that students can progress as quickly or as slowly as they choose to. In general, though, this program usually takes 16 to 18 months to complete.
In a nutshell, traditional PN programs usually require students to start and finish their courses at the exact same time. The individualized program available at Canadian Valley Technology Center, on the other hand, allows students to work at their own pace and time while being monitored by the faculty. Although the schedule is personalized, students will need to take at least 24 hours a week.
Before anything else, students will need to schedule themselves in for the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and get a score of at least 44% in Math and 70% in Reading.
After that, students will need to complete the application form. To apply, they will also need to have a high school diploma, a proof of residency, and documentation of their immunizations.
Students who wish to study at the Canadian Valley Technology Center are highly advised to buy an iPad 2 because there are a lot of great medical applications on it. In fact, the Canadian Valley Technology Center believes that the ability of students to use this particular technology would be an absolute necessity in order to become effective and successful nurses in the future.
When it comes to previous health-related education or work, there are two options available for students.
The first option gives students the chance to get credit for any previous health-related work experience that they might have – provided they have worked for at least a year for full-time in the last five years. This experience needs to be validated, as well. However, once approved, students will be able to showcase clinical goals and test out of various theory goals in a shorter amount of time. This means that they will be able to finish the program faster, too.
The second option gives students the chance to get credit for Physiology, Anatomy, Medical Terminology, or other technology center or college classes that meet the same goals of Canadian Valley Technology Center’s program. They will have to submit their official transcripts, though, as well as have a minimum grade of C in all of their courses. Reference letters would also be required here.
Graduates of this program will be allowed to sit for the national licensure examination to become practical nurses (NCLEX-PN). This computerized test is offered every day at the Sylvan Learning Centers in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

Carl Albert State College Nursing Program Review
Carl Albert State College (CASC) is ranked as one of the top 10% in community colleges in the country. They also happen to have the most affordable tuition fees in Oklahoma and are conveniently located in Salisaw, Poteau and the World Wide Web.
Carl Albert State College – Nursing

Associate of Applied Science
This program normally takes 72 to 75 credit hours to complete and students need to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 in order to complete it. Aside from that, students will also need to complete 31 hours of general education courses and 41 to 44 hours of nursing courses.
Financial Aid
Grants
Grants refer to financial aid that students do not need to repay and are usually offered to undergraduates depending on their needs, enrollment status and attendance costs. There are different kinds of grants out there, including federal Pell grants, federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants (SEOG) and Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grants (OTAG).
Loans
Since the Health Care reform was passed, Stafford Loans have changed to Direct Lending.
Federal Perkins Loans
These loans are given to students with the most need for them, but can only be given if funds exist to do so. Most of the time, students can get up to $3000 in loan amounts, though.
Federal Work Study (FWS)
Federal Work Study means that undergraduates will need to have jobs in order to get financial aid. How much the awarded amount is will depend on the student’s financial needs, though. However, if eligible, they can work in various participating campus departments or offices.
Getting an FWS doesn’t necessarily guarantee a job, though. Every department will choose the student that they want to give the job to from the pool of eligible applicants provided from the office of financial aid.
In general, the chosen students will get paid two times a month and can pick up their checks at the business office.
Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program (OHLAP)
This program exists for students from the 8th to the 10th grade who need help paying for their education in college and whose family’s annual income is under $50,000. To apply for this program, students have to take specific courses and pass them with good grades.
National Guard Tuition Waiver
This tuition waiver is for undergraduates students with good standings at the Oklahoma National Guard. To apply, students will need to submit an application every semester and enroll in a baccalaureate program with at least six hours of study in the spring and summer semesters or at least three hours in the summer. Students can get this waiver for up to 6 years of 18 credit hours every semester.
G.I. Bill
Veterans and veteran dependents can apply for certain educational benefits through this program.
Native American Tribal Assistance
A lot of recognized civilized tribes provide financial aid to students with Native American blood, as long as they can verify their descent. To apply, students will need to complete the necessary application form first and then get in touch with their local tribal agency to get financial aid.

Central Technology Center Nursing Program Review
Central Technology Center (CTC) serves other 27,000 students in the rural setting of Drumright, Oklahoma. Students will benefit from a faculty ratio of 9:1 and can choose from a variety of certificate and career education programs in fields such as nursing and technology. The college partners with several other institutions in the area to provide career and technical education programs. Practical Nursing Certificate
Earning a practical nursing certificate is the first step in becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The program prepares students to enter the nursing profession through 5 levels beginning with classroom instruction and ending with clinical practicum experiences. Students in the LPN program also have the opportunity to give back to the community and earn clinical nursing experience by participating in local community events. LPN students have assisted with basic first-aid and health care settings in schools and community events. Graduates of the full-time LPN program have pointed to job security as a key factor in their education. Several groups of past LPN students have experienced a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX-PN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses. LPN students will benefit from practicing with lifelike mannequins that simulate childbirth and other human functions. Admission requirements to the LPN program include the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and a minimum GPA of 2.0. The LPN program lasts approximately 12-18 months.
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA Long-term Care, Home Health) Programs
The CNA program prepares students in basic health care topics such as managing fluids, nutrition, basic illnesses and treatments. Graduates of the program will also receive a certificate as a Home Health Care Aide and receive specialized training in CPR. Graduates of Central Technology Center’s dual CNA/Home Health certificate program will be a more competitive CNA because of their additional qualifications. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a CNA certification and are eligible to take the Oklahoma certification exam to become a CNA as well as become listed on the list of certified CNAs in Oklahoma.
Financial Aid and Scholarships at Central Technology Center
A variety of scholarship opportunities are available to students at Central Technology Center. Scholarships are based on financial need and can help students in a variety of situations including child care, transportation and obtaining eye glasses. Student s in the course will become certified in nursing and CPR and as a long term care aide through taking an examination upon completion of the pre-nursing program. Connors State College Nursing Program Review
Connors State College (CSC) is based in the rural setting of Warren, Oklahoma and is among the “Fastest Growing Public 2 year Colleges” as named by Community College Week. The college offers associate’s and certificates in areas of study such as nursing, agriculture and psychology. Connors State College was founded in 1908 as a school of agriculture and currently educates over 2,000 students.
In addition to the main campus, students have access to a ranch located very close to the main campus and also the Three Rivers Campus and West Campus in Muskogee. The West Campus in Muskogee shares facilities with Northeastern State University. The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredits Connors State College.

Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS) Program
The AAS program at Connors State College is a type of Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program that prepares nurses for a career as a vocational nurse upon completion of the program. Admission requirements to the AAS program include completing 30 academic credits of general education with a minimum 2.4 GPA and a satisfactory score on math and reading tests. Nursing program courses consist of 42 credits, and the AAS program requires 72 credits total.
The AAS nursing program utilizes the STARS (Subject Test Assessment Resource Service) to ensure that students are participating and making adequate progress in the nursing program. The tests will identify student’s area of strength and weakness so that further action may be taken before the NCLEX-RN exam.
Upon completion of the program, nursing students are awarded an AAS and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses, to receive licensure as an RN (Registered Nurse).
Career Ladder Program for LPNs and Paramedics
The Career Ladder Program recognizes the previous health education of LPNs and Paramedics by awarding up to 25 hours of academic credit based on their previous study. LPNs and Paramedics must take a transition course in the summer or fall and are then eligible to enter the nursing course at an advanced level. Admission to the program includes licensure as an LPN or Paramedic in Oklahoma and satisfactory scores on required testing. Upon completion of the program, nurses earn an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN to become a licensed Registered Nurse (RN).

East Central University Undergraduate Nursing Program Reviews
Generic BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
Students without previous nursing education or experience may take courses in the generic BSN program. BSN students will train at nursing lab facilities as well as a nursing computer lab on the East Central University campus. The BSN program can be completed in four years and requires 124 credits. Students interested in transferring to the nursing program should note that transfer classes are carefully evaluated and that consulting a nursing advisor is recommend. Transfer courses from technology centers are not accepted. Upon graduation from the BSN program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses, and also earn a BSN.
RN to BSN (Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
The RN to BSN program strives to prepare licensed RNs with the necessary training and education to pursue graduate education or career opportunities in advanced nursing. Flexibility is a key feature of the RN to BSN program allowing students to schedule clinical practicum experience around their work schedule. The program is delivered in a hybrid format, with classes online and onsite, in collaboration with ITV OneNet Distance Learning. Admission requirements to the program include a minimum 2.5 GPA, ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) from an accredited program, and a valid and clear RN license in Oklahoma. Upon completion of the program, students receive a BSN and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses, to become a licensed RN. The RN to BSN program can be completed in approximately 1 year.
Nursing Honor Society at East Central University
Nursing students at East Central University have the opportunity to network and receive valuable information and resources in the nursing field through participating in the nursing honor society at East Central University. The honor society, Sigma Theta Tau, is for all nurses in the Southeastern Oklahoma area.

Eastern Oklahoma State College Nursing Program Review
Eastern Oklahoma State College (EOSC) was established in 1908. The college was formerly known as the Oklahoma School of Mines and Metallurgy. As the years went on, the college added degree programs in other areas such as industrial education, and eventually career fields including nursing. The main campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College is based in Wilburton, with a branch campus is in McAlester and additional courses held in Idabel and Antlers. The college serves over 2,000 students and is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Nursing Programs
Eastern Oklahoma State College offers two nursing programs awarding an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing, a degree for nurses whose primary goal is a career in vocational nursing, rather than a four-year degree. The AAS in Nursing programs offer both a generic and accelerated track for nurses with previous healthcare education.
Eastern Oklahoma State College Undergraduate Nursing Programs
Track 1: AAS in Nursing Basic Licensure Program
The AAS in Nursing program is a full-time degree program for students without previous nursing education or experience to earn the AAS in Nursing. Admission criteria for the AAS in Nursing Basic Licensure Program include a minimum 2.5 GPA, satisfactory ACT score and three letters of reference. Admission is selective and competitive and conducted on a points system, with students receiving points based on work experience, GPA and testing scores. Transfer students who have taken nursing courses within three years of the program start date are eligible to apply to the nursing program, and should include a letter of recommendation from a previous nursing instructor. Students complete the program in four semesters and apply to both the nursing program and Eastern Oklahoma State College simultaneously. Pre-requisite courses may be completed on a reduced schedule, but once the nursing program courses begin, students are required to complete the courses on full-time study. Upon completion of the program, students receive an AAS in Nursing, a type of ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) for students pursuing the nursing vocation rather than a four year education. Graduates of the AAS in Nursing program are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses.
Track 2: LPN–RN Transition (Bridge) Program (AAS)
The LPN to RN Transition Program recognizes the education and experience of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in the field of nursing and builds upon this expertise for the RN degree. The LPN-RN transition program is not limited to LPNs, paramedics may also be considered for advanced standing. Admission to the advanced standing LPN to RN program requires students to submit a copy of their nursing license and take challenge exams demonstrating their knowledge of nursing practice. If successful, students will complete a nursing transition course in lieu of the first year of academic study in the nursing program. The program can be completed in one year. Upon completion of the program students receive an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.

Francis Tuttle Technology Center Nursing Program Review
Based in the capital of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Francis Tuttle Technology Center (FTTC, FT) offers one and two year certificate programs in agriculture, architecture, law and nursing among other fields. Established in 1979, the center was established to provide technological training and education. Today, Francis Tuttle Technology Center has three campuses-The Rockwell Campus, Portland Campus, and Reno Campus- which together serve- over 24,000 students. Francis Tuttle Technology Center Undergraduate Nursing Programs
Practical Nursing
The Practical Nursing program at Francis Tuttle Technology Center prepares students to work as entry-level nurses in a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, home healthcare settings, private practice and community health agencies. Admission to the program is on a points-based system which evaluates GPA, testing scores and work experience among other things. Students should be an adult, have a GED or high school diploma and take the ACT test or have completed 12 units of college coursework with a grade of “C” or higher. The Practical Nursing Program can be completed in one year. Students are not required to complete pre-requisites such as the anatomy and physiology course and CPR and First Aid prior to being admitted to the program. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to obtain certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by taking the National Council for Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses, NCLEX-PN. The program is completed full-time in approximately one year on a day time schedule.
Full-time Practical Nursing
An additional one year (January-December) full-time option in Practical Nursing is offered at Francis Tuttle Technology Center. The LPN program requires students to take an anatomy course prior to applying and being admitted to the program. Both nursing courses and clinical practicum experiences will be completed in the daytime.
1+1 Nursing Education Partnership (NEP)
The 1 +1 Nursing Education Partnership (NEP) program prepares students for a career as an RN (Registered Nurse) by first allowing students to earn their LPN in one year, and then progressing to an RN program after an additional year of study. The 1+1 program is only available for students who are referred by partner institutions of the Francis Tuttle Technology Center Practical Nursing program. The program pre-requisites must be completed prior to beginning the LPN program, and the 1+1 NEP program requires the same time to complete as the full-time practical nursing program, approximately one year. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN to become a LPN, and progress to the RN program.
Blended Online Option in Practical Nursing
The Blended Online option prepares self-motivated nursing students to earn the LPN qualification in a hybrid format, involving on campus and online study. Students will complete nursing coursework 25 to 30 hours per week online. The Blended Online Option is 14 months and is offered on a set schedule. Students complete nursing courses all day on Mondays and clinical practicum experiences in the afternoon and evening hours. Upon completion of the program, students receive an LPN certificate.

Great Plains Technology Center (GPTC) provides vocational education and training to students in Southwest Oklahoma. The center was founded in 1971 and educates over 1,000 students each year in nursing, welding, carpentry and computer technology. Great Plains Technology Center has two campuses; the main campus is located in Lawton and the Tillman Kiowa campus in Frederick. Practical Nursing
The Practical Nursing program at Great Plains Technology Center prepares nurses to serve in a variety of health care settings under the supervision of and in collaboration with RNs (Registered Nurses) and other healthcare professionals. Students in the Practical Nursing program are prepared to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses to become an LPN in Oklahoma. Admission requirements to the LPN program include being at least 18 years of age, a high school diploma or GED, CPR Certification (specifically for health care providers) and attending a mandatory nursing program information meeting. Students applying to the program with previous experience in a healthcare setting should have a good record.
Long Term Care Nurse Aide
The Long Term Care Nurse Aide program at Great Plains Technology Center prepares students to provide basic care to patients in a variety of settings. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take an exam to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in Oklahoma. The CNA program is 127 hours and consists of four courses. As part of the program, students will earn a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certificate.
Student Resources at Great Plains Technology Center
Great Plains Technology Center offers unique resources to current students. The Lounge, a column in the Great Plains Technology Center student newspaper, allows students to share and compare experience with their peers. The program details the lives of two Great Plains Technology Center students from the beginning until the end of the school year. A recent report gave praise to nurses and other students enrolled in healthcare fields.
The center also has programs to help students in need. The SCORE program at Great Plains Technology Center offers students ages 16-19 who have not completed high school the opportunity to enroll in an intensive academic program and learn a vocation. Nearly 1,000 students have participated in the program.

Indian Capital Technology Center Nursing Program Review
Indian Capital Technology Center (ICTC) is part of Oklahoma’s Career Tech program. The center was founded in 1970. The main campus of Indian Capital Technology Center is based in Muskogee with additional campuses in Sallisaw, Stilwell and Tahlequah. Over 23,000 students enroll in more than 39 educational programs at Indian Capital Technology Center. Indian Capital Technology Center strives to prepare students with relevant vocational skills particularly suited to the local area. Though courses from technology centers are generally not transferable, students may earn college credit in some courses of study.
Students have the opportunity to earn college credit for some programs at Indian Capital Technology Center through Connors State College or Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology. Courses are offered both online and on campus. In addition to certificate programs, students may also participate in continuing education programs to stay up to date in their field. High school students may attend Indian Capital Technology Center for free. The Diagnostic Aide and Nurse Assistant program can be completed in 1050 hours of study, which requires approximately 1 or 2 years for full and part time study respectively. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) exam to become a CNA in the state of Oklahoma. The Diagnostic Aide and Nurse Assistant program is designed to provide not only an entry-level opportunity in the healthcare field, but also the opportunity to develop a foundation in nursing education for further study in the field of nursing and other healthcare fields. Students in the Diagnostic Aide and Nurse Assistant program can earn academic credit for their coursework through Connors College and Oklahoma State Institute of Technology. Langston University Nursing School Review
Langston University (LU) is a rural-based university based in Langston, Oklahoma offering bachelor’s through doctoral degrees. The university also has campuses in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Langston University was founded in 1897 and is the only HBCU (Historically Black College and University) in Oklahoma. Langston University strives to create a multi-cultural, student-centered campus.

Langston University Center for International Development (LUCID)
The Langston University Center for International Development houses any and all programs related to international affairs at the university. In addition to coordinating study abroad opportunities for students and faculty members, the university assists in the efforts of USAID (United States Agency for International Development). Current study abroad programs available to students are in China, Kenya, Gambia and Senegal. Scholarship opportunities are available to students interested in studying abroad. Meridian Technology Center Nursing Program Review
Meridian Technology Center (MTC, Meridian Tech) is based in Stillwater, Oklahoma and was founded as a vocational school in 1973. Over 1,500 students are enrolled in technical education programs at Meridian Technology Center including business and nursing. A wide variety of nursing areas are covered in the LPN program including pediatric nursing, maternity nursing and medical surgical nursing. Admission requirements include submitting an ACT score and transcripts from previous high school and college education experiences. Pre-requisites to the LPN program include completing a basic computer course with a grade of “C” or better and a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certificate. The Practical Nursing program is for adults only. Students in the LPN program are expected to attend courses and clinical practicum experiences at least 30 hours each week. The LPN program can be completed in 1463 hours. The course and clinical practicum experiences take place Monday through Friday. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the National Council for Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses, the NCLEX-PN.
Advanced Placement/Transfer Credit for the LPN Program
Students who have previous healthcare education or experience may be eligible for advanced standing in the LPN program. Students who receive advanced placement credit are eligible to move ahead through some aspects of the nursing program. Students who have previous coursework or experience and would like to receive credit for the LPN program should contact an advisor prior to entering the program to verify credit may be earned.
Online Certificate Courses offered at Meridian Technology Center
Online certificate courses are offered through Ed2Go. Nurses may take courses in fields such as Integrative Mental Health among other topics. Interested students should consult the online course list as offerings may change.
Extracurricular Activities at Meridian Technology Center
Students at Meridian Technology Center have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities in addition to education programs. Students may participate in general extracurricular activities such as the Leadership Class, which trains students to develop Leadership skills. Subject-specific student organizations include Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, and Business Professionals of America. Metro Technology Centers (Metro Tech, MT, MTC) is a two-year public vocational school which awards certificates to high school and college students. The college was founded in 1979. The main campus of Metro Technology Centers is the Springlake Campus in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Upon completion of the program, students have the option of earning certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).
Nursing Prep
The Nursing Prep course at Metro Technology Centers is a gateway course to the Practical Nursing program. Upon completion of the Nursing Prep program, students may obtain certification as a CNA and are prepared to apply to the Practical Nursing program. Students who have completed the Nursing Prep program are eligible to enroll in the Practical Nursing program with higher standing. Eligibility for the Nursing Prep program requires students to be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or GED. The program is 641 hours of study.
Practical Nurse
The Practical Nurse program at Metro Technology Centers prepares students for an entry level career in the field of nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Admission requirements for the Practical Nurse program require students to be at least 18 years of age, hold a GED or high school diploma, and have CPR Certification for Healthcare Providers. Students should note that the CPR certification must come from the American Heart Association. Students are advised to take Medical Terminology as a prerequisite to the Practical Nurse program. The Practical Nurse program is 1509 hours of study. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses to become an LPN.
1 + 1 Practical Nurse
The 1 +1 Practical Nurse program prepares students to become an integral part of the healthcare team. Admission requirements for the program include being at least 18 years of age, in possession of a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification and prerequisite courses in Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology. Unlike the traditional Practical Nursing program, students in the 1 + 1 Practical Nurse program must have all prerequisites complete prior to enrolling in the Practical Nurse course. Upon completion of the 1389 hour program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam.
Online and Short Term Courses for Nurses at Metro Technology Centers
Metro Technology Centers offers several useful certificate programs to nurses via partnerships with other educational organizations. The Practical Nurse Program can be completed in 11 months and requires 1,463 hours of study. Upon completion of the Practical Nurse program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Pre-Nursing
The pre-nursing program prepares students for further nursing study in the practical nursing program. Students interested in the program should contact the admission counselor, as the program is a compilation of health science courses. Throughout the course of the program, students will complete courses in medical terminology, phlebotomy, and the first two courses of the Practical Nurse program. Students will complete the requirements for the long -term care aide and home health aide as part of the program. Upon completing the pre-nursing program, students are prepared to earn advanced standing in the Practical Nurse program or pursue other healthcare career opportunities as an aide or technician. Students have the option of earning academic college credit for some coursework in the Pre-nursing program.
Leadership Mid-America (LMA) Program
The Leadership Mid-America program is an interdisciplinary program designed to develop and prepare leaders ready to serve their local communities in the South Central Oklahoma area. The LMA program at Mid-America Technology Center is open to professionals 25 years or older in all areas of practice including nursing. Those who demonstrate an interest in developing their community for the better and ideas for leadership are ideal applicants. Admission criteria include selecting applicants from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds to ensure diversity in the course. Students in the LMA program are prepared for leadership opportunities through eight sessions and learning about community agencies and resources.

Practical Nursing
The Practical Nursing program at Moore Norman Technology Center prepares nurses to take on a variety of opportunities in healthcare settings. Admission requirements for the Practical Nurse program include meeting with a nursing program advisor, submitting proof of high school or diploma or GED and taking the COMPASS or ACT test. Practical Nurses supervise CNAs (Certified Nurse Assistants) and also other medical aides and technicians. Upon completing the Practical Nursing program, students are eligible to take the National Council for Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The Practical Nurse program requires 1,463 hours of study.
Nurse Aide
The Nurse Aide program at Moore Norman Technology Center prepares students to provide basic and continual care for patients in long-term care facilities, hospitals and other healthcare settings. Pre-requisites to the Nurse Aide program include a CPR course. The Nurse Aide program consists of coursework and clinical experiences which allow the nurse to demonstrate what was learned in the course. Upon completion of the program, students take the state certification exam to become Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs).
Pre-Nursing
The Pre-Nursing program prepares students to earn certification as an Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA), a member of the healthcare team that works alongside and under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs). Prerequisites to the program include CPR certification and being up to date on all necessary immunizations. Upon completing the Pre-Nursing program, students may take the exam to be an Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) and also earn advanced standing in the Practical Nursing program.
Short Term Class Options for Nurses at Moore Norman Technology Center
Moore Norman Technology Center offers several short term course options for professional nurses seeking to develop new skills or stay up to date with the latest developments in nursing education. Short term courses are available for Nursing Assistants (CNAs), LPNs and RNs. An LPN and RN refresher course is delivered in several formats-online, campus-based and with or without clinical training. A specific RN/LPN refresher course is offered to meet the requirements of the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. A Restorative Care course is offered for CNAs and focuses on teaching nurses to train patients to function and develop their own personal care.

Murray State College Nursing Program Review
Murray State College (MSC) is based in the rural city of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The college also has a campus in Ardmore. Murray State College enrolls over 2,500 students each year. Nursing Program (for an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing)
Murray State College offers an AAS in Nursing program, which is a type of Associate’s Degree in Nursing geared toward the vocational nurse, rather than nurses pursuing a four-year degree. Admission requirements to the nursing program include obtaining a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) license, completion of a chemistry course with a grade of “C” or better, a minimum GPA of 2.5 or better in college courses and an ACT score of 19 or higher. Students must also take two tests, the Evolve and HESI as a part of the admission evaluation process for the AAS in Nursing. Students who do not meet the application requirements of the nursing program may do so by completing 15 credits of nursing coursework with a minimum “B” average (3.0 GPA) including at least one science course. The AAS in Nursing program can be completed in 5 semesters, including one summer. Upon completion of the nursing program, students receive an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
Career Mobility Program for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Critical Care Paramedics
The Career Mobility program allows prospective students with a background in healthcare as an LPN or Critical Care Paramedic to build upon their previous education and experience to complete the AAS in Nursing program. Admission requirements to the program include an ACT score of 19 or higher, licensure as an LPN or Paramedic, and attending a nursing admission class. LPNs and Paramedics can usually complete the nursing program in 3 or 4 semesters based on credit received for previous coursework. LPNs and Paramedics are not immediately awarded academic credit for their healthcare background, but must successfully pass exams to test out of particular courses.

Unlike many courses from technology centers, students in the Nursing Assistant program at Northeast Technology Center may receive college credit for their coursework. Upon completion of the Nursing Assistant program, students will earn a certificate as a long-term care/home health aide, eligibility for state certification as a Long Term Care Assistant (LCTA) and advanced standing in the Practical Nursing program. The Nursing Assistant program is completed in 992 hours of study.Students are also eligible for certification as a pharmacy tech and phlebotomist.
Practical Nursing
The Practical Nursing program at Northeast Technology Center prepares students as entry-level nurses to work alongside RNs (Registered Nurses) and other healthcare professionals. Admission requirements to the program include holding a high school diploma or GED, holding a Long Term Care Assistant (LCTA) Certification, and attending a mandatory Practical Nursing information meeting. Other requirements for the Practical Nurse program include CPR for healthcare provider’s certification from the American Heart Association and taking the TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education). Priority acceptance to the Practical Nursing program is given to the students in Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Tulsa, Rogers and Ottawa counties.Students outside of these communities will be admitted to the Practical Nursing program as additional space is available. The Practical Nursing program requires 1,463 hours to complete and must be completed within 15 months of commencement. Upon completion of the Practical Nursing program, students are eligible to take the National Council for Licensure Exam for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN).
Practical Nursing Individualized Option
The Practical Nursing Individualized Option allows students to complete the Practical Nursing program in a hybrid option with half of the courses being completed through 20 hours a week of on-campus study and the remaining work completed at home. Students work with a faculty advisor to plan the Individualized Program of study. Students in the Individualized program should note that they are still required to complete the program in 15 months.

Students with a GED are required to take a minimum of 12 credits of coursework at the college level with a grade of “C” or better. Applicants to the program should complete a biology course with a minimum 2.0 GPA, take the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) and submit ACT test scores. Applicants are required to make up for any courses necessary for the nursing program prior to entering. Nursing program advisors are available to meet with prospective students to determine necessary preparation for the AAS in Nursing program. The nursing program may be completed in four semesters. Transfer students, who have already completed nursing coursework, are eligible for advanced standing in the program and may complete the program in less time. Upon completion of the nursing program, students receive an AAS (Associate in Applied Science) in Nursing, a type of degree for nurses seeking a vocation rather than four-year degree. Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing: Fast Track Pathway for Licensed Practical Nurses and Licensed Paramedics
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Paramedics may receive advanced standing and placement in the nursing program based on previous coursework and work experience. Prospective applicants to the AAS in Nursing program should meet with an advisor and complete the Fast Track Application.
LPN-RN (Licensed Practical Nurse to Registered Nurse) Fast Track
In the LPN-RN Fast Track option, LPNs can complete the program while remaining employed in addition to earning credit for coursework and work experience. Admission requirements for the program include a valid and clear LPN License, a 2.0 or higher GPA in all coursework, ACT scores, proof of high school diploma and transcripts. Upon being admitted to the nursing program, LPNs may earn advanced placement in the nursing immediately unless their program is not accredited by NLNAC, in which an examination in nursing competencies by the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) is necessary. Upon completion of the program, LPNs earn an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.
Paramedic to RN (Paramedic to Registered Nurse)
Paramedics seeking advanced placement in the nursing program must earn a satisfactory score on an ATI exam in Maternal-Child Nursing or complete a required nursing course. Paramedics must hold a valid and clear Paramedic license; other requirements are the same as those for the LPN program. Upon completion of the program, paramedics earn an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.

Pre-Nursing
Students may earn an associate of science degree at Northern Oklahoma College in pre-nursing. Admission requirements to the RN program include a minimum GPA of 2.5 overall, a grade of “C” or better in all prerequisite courses and licensure as an RN. Upon completion of the program, students receive a BSN and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing RN Option
Registered Nurses (RNs) seeking to earn a BSN degree must provide a copy of their RN license, have a minimum 2.25 GPA and have CPR certification. Upon completion of the program, RNs receive a BSN. The RN Option is 33 credit hours.
Minor in Parish/Faith Community Nursing
Students in the nursing program may obtain a minor in Parish Nursing. Parish nurses deliver health care in a faith-based community including basic health assessment and diagnostic screening. The Parish Nursing program is 18 academic credits.
Oklahoma Baptist University Nursing Graduate Programs
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Oklahoma Baptist University offers an MSN in Nursing Education and an MSN in Global Nursing. The MSN in Nursing Education is a flexible program that meets one night a week and can be completed in 18 months. The MSN Nursing Education program is ideal for nursing professionals seeking faculty positions. The MSN Global Nursing program prepares nurses for careers in international health and cross-cultural situations. Lifelong Learning at Oklahoma Baptist University
The lifelong learning program at Oklahoma Baptist University allows alumni to take up to 5 credits of undergraduate coursework. The program requires a small administrative fee to cover costs of the program. Students are eligible to take courses in the program as an audit or pass/fail course. Students may not enroll in the courses to apply towards a second degree program or will be charged additional fees. Transfer students may be accepted to the BSN program, but are required to develop a program of study that is individualized to their specific academic background, and must meet with both an advisor and the registrar.
BSN Program Progression
Once accepted to the BSN program, students are required to maintain a 2.9 or higher GPA to continue enrollment in the undergraduate nursing program. The undergraduate nursing program consists of classroom work and clinical practicum experiences. Oklahoma Christian University students have the unique opportunity of completing the clinical experiences both domestically and abroad. Past BSN students have attended missions trips in South America. Courses in the nursing program include math, science and psychology in addition to nursing. Nurses are exposed to a wide variety of nursing areas including mental health nursing, adult nursing, maternal-child nursing and a nursing research course.
Completion of the BSN program
The BSN degree requires 126 academic credits to complete. Summer Programs in Nursing at Oklahoma Christian University
Oklahoma Christian University offers a very unique summer program for nursing students. Students may participate in the HonduraServe Medical Mission Program. Career Ladder Pathway-Nursing AAS
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and paramedics are eligible for advanced standing in the Nursing AAS program. The Career Ladder Pathway track of the Nursing AAS program is specifically designed to build on the nurse’s previous education and experience to make the transition to become an RN as productive as possible. Admission into the Career Ladder Pathway program is selective and competitive with students ranked on a points system according to GPA, test scores and other factors. Once pre-requisites are completed, the Career Ladder Pathway program can be completed in as little as 10 months. Upon completion of the program, nursing students receive an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.
Baccalaureate to Associate Degree Nurse Accelerated Pathway (BADNAP)
Students with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing are eligible for the BADNAP program which allows students to earn their degree in less time than a student without previous education. Admission requirements to the BADNAP program include, but are not limited to a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college and a minimum 2.5 GPA. The BADNAP program is intensive with courses beginning in the summer. The undergraduate nursing program for baccalaureate students can be completed in ten months. Upon completion of the program, students earn an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.

Registered Nurses (RNs) seeking to complete a four year degree may enroll in the RN to BSN degree program at Oklahoma City University. Admission requirements to the RN to BSN program include a minimum GPA of 2.5, an active RN license and graduation from an accredited RN program. Applicants to the nursing program who are not native English speakers are required to demonstrate English proficiency by earning a TOEFL English score of 500 or higher. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
The Kramer School of Nursing offers two master’s tracks for students interested in pursuing a MSN degree-Nursing Education and Nursing Administration. Admission requirements to the MSN program include a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a BSN from an accredited institution. The MSN program can be completed in 18 months for Nursing Education majors and 24 months for Nursing Administration. Upon completion of the graduate nursing program, students receive an MSN degree.
RN to MSN (Registered Nurse to Master of Science in Nursing)
Registered Nurses with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing may enroll in the RN to MSN program. Admission requirements include holding a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. General education prerequisites for the MSN program are generally met through the bachelor’s degree, though students are required to take 3 BSN level courses before beginning the MSN program. Upon completion of the RN to MSN program, students are awarded an MSN degree and do not receive a BSN.
BSN to DNP (Bachelor of Science in Nursing to Doctor of Nursing Practice) Family Nurse Practitioner
The BSN to DNP Family Nurse Practitioner program prepares nurses with a baccalaureate degree to become licensed FNPs (Family Nurse Practitioners). Admission requirements to the program include a minimum 3.0 GPA, BSN from an accredited institution and a personal statement indicating how the BSN to DNP program will assist the nurse in achieving future goals. The BSN to DNP Program can be completed in as little as 3 years, though there are limits on the number of courses that can be taken each semester depending on the applicant’s clinical background. Upon completion of the program, students receive the DNP degree and are eligible to take the FNP certification exam.
DNP Completion Program
The DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) Completion program is for nurses with a master’s degree. Nurses may choose from a Clinical or Administrative focus depending on their background. Nurses in the clinical DNP track should have a practical certification such as anesthetist or nurse practitioner. Nurses in the administrative DNP track should have leadership experience and a nursing administration certification. Designed with the working nurse in mind, the program can be completed in 21 months.
Doctor of Philosophy Nursing Program (PhD)
Kramer School of Nursing’s PhD in Nursing program prepares nurses for a career influencing education and research at the local, state and national level. The PhD program has a focus on Nursing Education, though students may choose a different focus. AAS in Nursing-Advanced Standing for LPNs and Paramedics

LPNs should earn satisfactory marks in coursework and written exams for advanced standing eligibility. LPNs graduating from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing program are particularly well suited for the advanced standing option in the AAS in Nursing program. Paramedics with at least 1,000 hours of experience are also eligible for advanced standing and must complete a nursing transition course to receive academic credit for experience. Admission requirements to the program include completing Kaplan Admission tests in reading and math, growth and development and mental health. In general, applicants without previous college coursework should have an ACT score of 19 or higher. Students who do not meet ACT score requirements may be required to take the COMPASS (college placement exam) to determine suitability for college courses and possibly take additional courses prior to commencing the nursing program. The AAS in Nursing program requires 72 academic credits. LPN to RN (Licensed Practical Nurse to Registered Nurse) Transition Program
An LPN to RN option is offered for students who have completed a Practical Nursing program and are Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). LPNs should make an individual advising appointment prior to applying to the LPN to RN transition program. Admission requirements to the LPN to RN program include a 50% or higher score on a battery of Kaplan admissions exams including a general math and reading exam, psychosocial exam, and growth and development Exam. LPNs may be granted advanced placement credit for scores on exams and previous coursework completed. The LPN to RN Transition program may be completed in 2 to 3 semesters depending on the LPN’s success in completed course prerequisites. Upon completion of the LPN to RN transition program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN and earn an AAS in Nursing.

Through a partnership with Ed2Go, Red River Technology Center offers several 6 week certificate courses that prepare nurses with additional knowledge in an area of practice or specific client population. Courses meet online, and topics include Gerontology (working with elderly populations), end of life care (providing services to terminally ill patients), and alternative medicine.
Cooperative Alliance Program
Though technology centers do not normally offer college credit, through the Cooperative Alliance program, students enrolled in certain vocation programs at Red River Technology Center are eligible for college credit at partner institutions. Murray State College Tishomingo, Western Oklahoma State College Altus, and Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology Okmulgee are part of the Cooperative Alliance Program and partnered with Red River Technology Center. Health careers programs including practical nursing and nursing assistant are eligible to participate in the Cooperative Alliance program. After earning an LPN diploma or Nursing Assistant certificate, students transferring to a partner institution may earn credit towards a degree program.

Students must make a separate application to the nursing program after being accepted to Redlands Community College. Admission requirements to the AAS in Nursing program include a satisfactory score on the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills), a minimum GPA of 2.5 and passing of all general education and nursing courses with a grade of “C” or higher. Prerequisite courses include a chemistry course with a lab component.
The nursing program offers classes divided into three areas-theory, laboratory and clinical. Recent additions to the nursing program include a simulation laboratory.
The AAS in Nursing program can be completed in 2 years or longer if part-time study is desired. Upon completion of the nursing program, students are eligible to take the National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses, NCLEX-RN, to become an RN. Past graduates of the nursing program have NCLEX-RN pass rates above 90%. Students receive an AAS in Nursing after successfully completing the program, which is a type of ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) specifically for nurses who prefer to go directly into a nursing career rather than pursuing a four year degree.
Advanced Placement Option
LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses) and Paramedics may be awarded academic credit for some portion of the AAS in Nursing program. Admission requirements for LPNs to the Advanced Placement Option include a valid Oklahoma LPN license and at least one year of practice as an LPN in addition to the general nursing admission requirements. Paramedics should also have an Oklahoma Paramedic license and have at least one year of practical experience prior to entering the program in addition to the general requirements for the AAS in Nursing. Upon completion of the Advanced Placement Option, LPNs and Paramedics earn an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.

Rogers State University (RSU) awards associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in Claremont, Oklahoma. Over 4,500 students are enrolled in academic programs at Rogers State University. Bridge NREMT-Paramedic/LPN to RN
The Bridge NREMT program is a transitional program for LPNs and RNs. Paramedics and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) may receive advanced standing in the AAS in Nursing program by receiving credit for the first year of clinically-focused courses. Health professionals enrolling in the advanced standing option will take challenge exams to demonstrate knowledge and capability in nursing. Career Ladder Nursing Science AAS
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Paramedics, and in certain cases military health professionals are eligible for advanced standing to the AAS in Nursing program through the Career Ladder option. Admission to the Career Ladder AAS in Nursing is based on a 32 point system, which includes criteria such as the amount of credits earned at RSC (15 or more), residency status, GPA, and score on the COMPASS test. Paramedics, LPNs and military health professionals admitted to the Career Ladder Program will be required to demonstrate sufficient knowledge to have advanced standing through challenge exams. The college offers guidance on how to be successful on the nursing challenge exam. The Career Ladder AAS in Nursing may be completed in 4 semesters. Admission requirements to the AAS in Nursing program include a minimum 3.0 GPA, satisfactory math, reading and composite scores on one eligible test (eligible tests include ACT, TEAS 4.0 and 5.0, and NET) within the past five years. Once accepted into Seminole State College, students should make a separate application to the nursing program. Applicants are evaluated for the nursing program based on GPA and test scores. Once admitted, nursing students are required to complete CPR certification (must be certified annually) and Long Term Care (LTC)/Home Health Aide (HHA) certification before commencing the program. Career Mobility LPN to RN
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) may enter the program in the second or third semester of the program depending on if they choose Career Mobility Option 1 or Career Mobility Option 2. Admission requirements for Career Mobility Option 1 and 2 include a minimum 3.0 GPA in 12 academic credit hours of nursing related coursework and satisfactory scores on the ACT, TEAS or NET as specified in the Generic Track requirements. Placement in Career Mobility Option 1 or 2, in which the student will be granted credit either for the first semester of first year of nursing courses depends on the student’s success in passing the exams after the Introduction to Associate Degree Nursing course. Upon completion of the Career Mobility Option, students will receive an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam.
SSC/UCF Concurrent ASN-BSN Program
Students can earn an ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing) and BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree through the concurrent associate’s and bachelor’s degree program between Seminole State College and the University of Central Florida. The concurrent enrollment nursing program can be completed in six semesters. Upon completion of the undergraduate nursing program, students earn an ASN from Seminole State College and a BSN from the University of Central Florida. Students are also eligible to take the NCLEX-RN to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
Cooperative Alliance Nursing Program
Students enrolled in the Practical Nursing program for LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurse) at Seminole State College, Gordon Cooper Technology Center, or Wes Watkins Technology Center’s are eligible to participate in the Cooperative Alliance program. The program grants credits for the first or second year of the nursing program and may also offer admission to an Excel-erated Transition Track depending on a student’s qualifications and performance. The Coop Alliance Nursing program requires 68 credits. Upon completion of the AAS in Nursing program, students will receive an AAS in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.

Practical Nursing
The Practical Nursing program at Seminole State College leads to qualification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The LPN program can be completed in 1350 hours of study and approximately 4 semesters(including prerequisites). Admission requirements include a satisfactory score on the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) and attending a nursing information session. Nurse Aide

The RN to BS Nursing Major program is part-time as it meets once weekly. Upon completion of the 14 month nursing program, students will receive a BS Nursing Major. Accelerated Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Southern Oklahoma Technology Center (SOTC) offers career and vocational education programs in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Branch campuses are located in Sulphur and Healdton. The center was founded in 1966. Southern Oklahoma Technology Center was one of the first technology centers in rural Oklahoma. Over 500 students participate in Southern Oklahoma Technology Center’s career programs.

The LPN program is composed of classroom, laboratory and clinical training. Students enrolled in the program must dedicate a minimum of 16 hours per week towards progression in the LPN program. Admission requirements stipulate students must be at least 18 by the time of clinical rotations and have a satisfactory score on one of three standardized tests-the COMPASS, ACT or TABE. Prerequisites to beginning the program include a CPR certification for Healthcare providers awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA). The LPN program can be completed in 1463 hours and a maximum of 2 years. Preference for admission into the LPN program is given to local students. Nursing Assistant (Therapeutic Services Pathway)
Through therapeutic services pathway, students can earn qualification as a Nursing Assistant. In the Nursing Assistant program, students will learn medical terminology, CPR and skills necessary to support LPNs, RNs and other healthcare professionals in health care settings. The Nursing Assistant program requires 496 hours of study. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the exam to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). As with the LPN program, students have the opportunity to earn academic credit through college partnerships.
High School Admissions at Southern Oklahoma Technology Center
As with several other technology centers in Oklahoma, Southern Oklahoma Technology Center partners with several high local high schools to offer certification opportunities to local high school students. High school students have the opportunity to earn a vocational certification while simultaneously attending high school. Some programs, such as the LPN program require students to be of a minimum age before working in a hospital or other healthcare setting providing critical care to patients. Pre-Nursing (NRS)
High school students interested in a nursing career may enroll in the Pre-Nursing program which leads to Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) qualification. The pre-nursing program includes courses in CPR and anatomy and physiology in addition to other clinical experiences. Upon completion of the program, students take the CNA exam. The Pre-Nursing program is 525 hours of study and can be completed in two academic semesters. This exploratory nursing program is only open to high school juniors and seniors. Students may earn college credit for the program through several universities including Tulsa Community College, Oklahoma Wesleyan University, and Coffeeyville Community College.
Practical Nursing (PN)
The Practical Nursing program at Tri County Technology Center prepares students to serve in a variety of healthcare settings. The Practical Nursing program includes classroom, laboratory and clinical work. Students in the Practical Nursing program will have the opportunity to complete clinical practicum experiences at private practice offices and long term care facilities among other settings. Admission requirements to the LPN program include a high school diploma or GED and being at least 18 years of age upon admittance to the program. Upon completion of the Practical Nursing program, students may take the National Council for Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The LPN program may be completed in approximately one year of academic study. Practical Nursing students have the opportunity to earn up to 10 college credits from the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology among other universities through the Cooperative Alliance Program.

Each online course is 6 weeks and includes topics such as Gerontology (caring for the elderly), Integrative Mental Health and Holistic and Integrative Health. Tulsa Community College offers a range of academic programs preparing students to become nurses at all levels whether through a short-term assistant program or preparation for a four year degree. The ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) program at Tulsa Community College is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
Tulsa Community College Undergraduate Nursing Programs
Full Time Associate Degree Nursing) Program
The Full-Time ADN program has been in operation since 1971 to meet the need for more RNs (Registered Nurses) in the state of Oklahoma. The ADN programs lead to eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN exam to become a RN and also an AAS (Associate in Applied Science) in Nursing degree. The AAS in Nursing is a specific type of ADN leading to a career as a vocational nurse, rather than nursing students seeking a four year degree. Prerequisite courses for the nursing program include introductory level college courses in English, chemistry, psychology, biology and anatomy. Admission requirements include a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) qualification-or demonstrated competency at the CNA level- and a grade of “C” or higher in all prerequisite courses. The Full-Time ADN program can be completed in five semesters.
BSN Articulation Option
The BSN Articulation Option is not a degree program, but rather a group of courses that prepares graduates of the ADN program to meet the qualifications for most RN to BSN programs. The BSN Articulation Option includes courses in humanities, mathematics and social sciences. Upon completion of the BSN articulation option, students have the 64-67 transferable credits necessary for most BSN programs.
Advanced Placement LPN/Paramedic to RN
The Advanced Placement Track leads to an AAS in Nursing for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Paramedics. The Advanced Placement Track builds upon the previous education of LPNs and Paramedics and allows these health professionals to complete the AAS in Nursing program in two or three semesters based upon testing results. Admission requirements to the program include demonstrated proof of an LPN/Paramedic and CNA license. Prerequisite courses for the Advanced Placement option include psychology, biology, English, anatomy and physiology and an introductory composition course. The minimum GPA for acceptance to the program is 2.5. Courses in the Advancement Placement option are delivered in a hybrid format with classes being offered online and on-campus.
Certified Nursing Assistant Career Ladder Program
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program offers three levels of CNA nursing education. In level one, students can participate in a campus-based or hybrid program to complete the necessary coursework and take the exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant 1.The CNA 1 course is 3 credits. The 2-credit CNA 2 program prepares CNAs for work in long-term care facilities. The 4 credit CNA 3 program provides education in geriatric care. Upon completion of CNA 3, students also receive certification as a Geriatric Care Technician.
TCC/NSU Concurrent Enrollment Nursing Program
The Tulsa Community College/Northeastern State University concurrent enrollment program allows nurses to complete an ADN and BSN concurrently. To be admitted into the combined ADN/BSN the program, students must have a 3.0 or higher GPA and complete prerequisite courses for both programs before concurrent enrollment can begin. Upon completion of the nursing program, students receive an ADN, BSN and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.

Tulsa Technology Center Nursing Program Review
Tulsa Technology Center (TTC) was founded in 1965. The center provides services to the community and has numerous campuses throughout Tulsa. The main campus is based in Tulsa with campuses and centers in Tulsa along with others in Broken Arrow, Sand Springs and Owasso. The Tulsa Technology Center is the oldest center in the Oklahoma Career and Technology Center group. Over 2,000 students are served on the various Tulsa Technology Center campuses.
Secondary students, including those who are homeschooled are eligible to attend Tulsa Technology Center free of tuition charges, though additional materials fees may apply. Tulsa Technology Center is accredited by the Oklahoma Board of Career and Technology Education.

Practical Nursing Program
The Practical Nursing program at Tulsa Technology Center prepares students for a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Admission requirements to the program include a GED or high school diploma, being at least 18 years of age, basic computer knowledge and certification as a Nurse Aide, Home Health or Long Term Care Assistant. Aspiring LPNs without this certification are required to begin the Practical Nursing program early to complete the CNA certification. The Practical Nursing program is offered as a day or evening program. Upon completion of the Practical Nursing program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Nurse Aide Program
Students desiring to become Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs, also called Certified Nursing Assistants) may enroll in Tulsa Technology Center’s Nurse Aide program. Admission requirements to the Nurse Aide program include being at least 18 years of age, a CPR certification for health care providers and ability to use a computer. The Nurse Aide program is offered in the daytime or evenings. Students may earn college credit for some courses in the Nurse Aide program through Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology and other select universities. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take an exam to become both a Long Term Care and Home Health Nurse Aide.
Nursing and Health Related Options Program
The Nursing and Health Related Options program allows students to explore various healthcare fields including nursing to better decide which healthcare program best suits their needs. Admission requirements to the Nursing and Health Related Options Program include field trips, hands-on training and guest speakers. Upon completing the two semester program, students will take exams to receive certification as a Long Term Care/Home Health Nursing Aide and also as an Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA). The Nursing and Health Related Options Program is open to high school seniors only, however, a student enrolling in the program must be at least 18 years by February 1 of the year in which the student will enroll in the program. After completing the program, students may pursue further education to become a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

University of Central Oklahoma Nursing School Review
The University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) is based in Edmond, Oklahoma and awards associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The university was founded in 1890 as Territorial Normal School. The campus is over 210 acres and includes routes for wellness including routes specifically designed for wheelchairs. Over 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students obtain education at the University of Central Oklahoma each year. The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredits the University of Central Oklahoma.

Traditional BSN Program
Students who are not yet Registered Nurses (RNs), including those with no previous college education, some college education or a degree in a field other than nursing, should apply to the Traditional program to earn the BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree. Admission requirements to the BSN program include completion of all prerequisite courses with a minimum “C” grade, letters of recommendation, a satisfactory score on the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Students complete two years of general education coursework, and apply to the nursing program by the deadline to begin the nursing program in their junior year of study. Upon completion of the undergraduate nursing program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses, to become a Registered Nurse (RN) and earn a BSN degree. The BSN program requires four years total to complete.
Career Ladder BSN Program
Students who are Registered Nurses (RNs) may apply to the Career Ladder RN to BSN which builds upon the student’s previous healthcare education and allows them to complete the nursing program in less time than the traditional nursing program. Students at Rose State College are eligible to attend this program through an agreement and some classes are offered at Rose State College. Students in the program should receive academic credit for all of their previous work from the NLNAC accredited RN program. LPNs are also eligible to participate in the Career Ladder program and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN upon completion of the program. To earn the BSN degree students must earn a total of 124 credits, 30 of which must be earned at the University of Central Oklahoma. RNs can normally complete the BSN program in 3 semesters.
Organizations for Nursing Students at the University of Central Oklahoma
The University of Central Oklahoma offers several options for nursing students to obtain contacts in the nursing field and network with their peers prior to graduation. Sigma Theta Tau International is a nursing honor society open to nursing students who demonstrate high academic achievement. The University of Central Oklahoma Student Nurses Association (UCOSNA) and the Fellowship of Christian Nurses are two other organizations in which nursing students may participate.

University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Nursing Program Review
The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) is a large, public research university awarding bachelor’s through doctoral degrees and certificates in Oklahoma City. OUHSC is the division of the University of Oklahoma that specifically deals with health fields such as pharmacy, allied health and nursing. The University of Oklahoma also has campuses in Tulsa, Norman, Lawton and several smaller distance education centers. Traditional BSN
The Traditional BSN program prepares students to become an RN (Registered Nurse). Before applying to the undergraduate nursing program, students must complete 67 credits of prerequisites including courses in psychology, English, statistics and nutrition. Upon completing BSN prerequisites, students enter the nursing program and complete an additional 60 credits of nursing coursework. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses and receive a BSN.
OU Norman Early Admission
A select number of high academic achievers are granted admission to the early admission program. This undergraduate nursing program allows students to be admitted into the program on a conditional basis earlier than the normal admission cycle. Admission requirements for the early admission program include a 2.5 overall GPA, an application to the University of Oklahoma, and completion of 24 credits of prerequisite coursework towards the traditional BSN program. Upon entering the Early Admission program, students are enrolled in the same course progression as other nursing students, earn a BSN, and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam.
Traditional Accelerated Program
Aspiring nurses with at least a bachelor’s degree who are not yet RNs may earn the BSN and become RN eligible through the Traditional Accelerated Program. Nurses take the classroom and clinical nursing education courses to earn a BSN degree and take the NCLEX-RN. The Traditional Accelerated program can be completed in 14 months.
ABSN at Duncan (Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
The ABSN at Duncan program allows nurses to complete their bachelor’s degree education at Duncan Regional Hospital in Oklahoma. The ABSN at Duncan was initiated as an opportunity to provide rural based nurses the ability to pursue their nursing education in a healthcare setting in their environment. Nurses will benefit from lab resources, adult and infant mannequins, and Smartboard technology to facilitate learning. The ABSN at Duncan allows nurses the unique opportunity of completing the ABSN in a hospital setting. Upon completion of the program, students earn a BSN and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.
LPN to BSN (Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing)
The LPN to BSN program builds upon the experience of LPNs to allow them to earn a BSN in less time than a student without previous healthcare education. LPNs earn credit for their previous coursework by earning satisfactory scores on nursing challenge exams. The LPN to BSN program consists of 127 credits and can be completed in 9 months, and is offered on a full or part time basis. Coursework is completed both online and on weekends (Saturday classes). Upon completion of the LPN to BSN program, students receive a BSN and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.
RN to BSN (Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
The RN to BSN program prepares RNs with the additional skills and training necessary to pursue graduate education or advance their career. The RN to BSN program can be completed in 9 months and is delivered in a hybrid format. Students in the nursing career mobility program take classes both online and in person on Saturdays. Upon completion of the program, students earn a BSN degree.
University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Graduate Nursing Programs
MS (Master of Science) major in Nursing
The MS with a major in Nursing programs at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center are offered in four tracks-Administration/Management, Education, Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and Nurse Practitioner (NP). The nursing master’s degree programs can normally be completed in two to three years, although the education major offers an accelerated 12 month option. Upon completion of the program, students earn a Master of Science degree, a more generally degree with a nursing major, as opposed to an MSN (Master of Science in Nursing). Both degrees generally allow nurses to pursue the same options. Students with specialized courses of study may pursue certification exams upon completion of the program.
MS for RN’s with Non-Nursing BS
RNs who have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing, but would like to pursue graduate study may participate in one of the MS with a major in nursing programs at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. The graduate nursing program allows nurses to enroll in any of the four tracks of the nursing program, though in some cases undergraduate course prerequisites are required. Upon completion of the program, students will earn an MS with a major in Nursing, but not a BSN degree.
DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice)
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a degree that focuses on the practice of nursing. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) with a specialization as a NP or CNS are ideal applicants for the DNP program. Students in the DNP program are designated as leaders in the nursing practice. Upon completion of the program, students receive a Doctor of Nursing Practice qualification.
Nursing PhD (Doctor of Nursing)
The Nursing PhD program is a research focused degree program that prepares nurses to become scholars. The PhD program also represents a collaborative effort between the University of Minnesota and the University of Colorado. Students can choose a geriatric focus within the PhD program. The PhD program can be completed in three years.
BSN to PhD Fast-Track Option
The BSN to PhD option allows students with a nursing degree to pursue a doctoral qualification without a master’s degree. The BSN to PhD program can be completed in less time than if students were to earn a master’s degree in nursing and then PhD. Admission criteria for the program include a GRE score ideally with a minimum score of 550, 550 and 4 in the verbal, quantitative and writing sections respectively and a minimum GPA of 3.5. The BSN to PhD program can be completed in four years.

Post-master’s certificates are offered in several nursing areas including Clinical Nurse Specialist and Education. A variety of continuing education courses are offered through the college of nursing. Courses include pharmacology, immunization, and legal aspects of nursing. Advanced Standing Program for Registered Nurses (RN)
RNs are eligible to receive credit for their previous education and experience, and earn a BSN degree by receiving advanced standing in the BSN program. Admission requirements for the Advanced Standing Program for Registered Nurses include completion of a nursing refresher course, recent work experience and a current and valid Oklahoma RN license. Up to 99 credits may be earned for previous coursework and experience as an RN. Upon completion of the undergraduate nursing program, RNs receive a BSN.
Upward Mobility Program for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)
The Upward Mobility program allows LPNs to receive up to 13 credits for previous coursework and experience. LPNs are also required to complete a transition course in addition to course requirements for traditional students. Upon completion of the requirements for the undergraduate nursing program, an LPN will receive a BSN and becomes eligible to take the NCLEX-RN so to become a Registered Nurse.
Nursing Scholarships offered at the University of Tulsa
The University of Tulsa strives to assist students in funding their education through several means. The university has a scholarship fund set aside for nursing students. Nursing students in financial need should complete a copy of the FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid) and request a copy be sent to the University of Tulsa. Upon receiving the FAFSA, the university can determine a student’s financial need and determine scholarship eligibility. Scholarships are through the University Of Tulsa Office Of Student Financial Services, and not through the nursing department. In some cases, students may receive additional funds from hospitals in exchange for a working contract upon graduation. Out of area students who do not plan to remain in Tulsa after graduation should consult hospitals in their area for such opportunities.

Western Oklahoma State College Nursing Program Review
Western Oklahoma State College (WOSC) is a two-year college offering associate’s degree and certificate programs. The college also has campuses in Lawton and Elk City. Over 3,000 students are enrolled at Western Oklahoma State College. Students can choose from several sports options including basketball, cheerleading, golf and rodeo. Western Oklahoma State College offers specialized associate’s degree programs in religion, applied technology, child development, criminal justice, and nursing.
Through articulation agreements with four year universities, students can apply the credits from their AS/AA (Associate of Science or Arts) degree to a baccalaureate program. The number of students admitted to the nursing program at Western Oklahoma State College depends on the number of clinical practicum spaces available each year. Students can complete the AAS in nursing degree in five semesters, including course prerequisites. LPNs enter the nursing program in the third semester of the AAS in Nursing program after completing a nursing transition course. LPNs complete the AAS in Nursing program in 2 semesters following completion of the transition course. Upon completion of the nursing program, LPNs are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN and earn an AAS in Nursing. Based in Burns Flat, Oklahoma, Western Technology Center (WTC) offers a variety of certificate programs for various careers and vocations. The center was established in 1970 after the closing of a local military base. In addition to the campus in Burns Flat, the center has campuses in Hobart, Sayre, and Weatherford. The Practical Nursing program at Western Technology Center prepares students to work with doctors and RNs (Registered Nurses) as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Admission requirements to the Practical Nursing program include possession of a high school diploma or GED, satisfactory score on admission tests and certification as a Long-term Care Nurse Aid within the past 5 years. Admission to the Practical Nursing program is based on a points system and is completed in two phases. Students are first evaluated for satisfactory scores on admission testing. Students with satisfactory testing scores are further evaluated on previous education and healthcare experience. The Practical Nursing program accepts 30 applicants and 20 alternates each year. As part of the LPN program, students will complete classwork, laboratory and clinical experiences. The Practical Nursing program can be completed in 1463 hours. Upon completion of the Practical Nursing program, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Long-Term Care Nursing Assistant (Pre-Nursing)
The Long Term Care Nursing assistant program is part of the Therapeutic Services pathway in the Health Sciences Department of Western Technology Center. The program prepares nurses for a career alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals. The Long Term Care Assistant program is a prerequisite for the Practical Nursing program at Western Technology Center. Upon completion of the Long Term Care Nursing Assistant courses, students are eligible to take the certification exam to become a Long Term Care Nursing Assistant in Oklahoma. Courses in the Long Term Care Nursing Assistant program may count towards credits in the Practical Nursing program. The Long Term Care Nursing Assistant program is part of the pre-nursing careers group and may be completed within 10 months.
Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) Program
The Certified Nurse Aid program is offered through Adult Education programs at Western Technology Center. The CNA program is a one month program meeting 3 days each week. Upon completion of the nursing program, students are eligible to take the exam to become a Certified Nurse Aide and also meet the CNA requirement for the LPN program.
Adult Education at Western Technology Center
The Adult Education programs at Western Technology Center offer a variety of courses in education, foreign language, computer skills and healthcare among other things. Nursing students may find the Certified Nurse Aid Course or America Heart Association CPR for Healthcare Providers courses particularly relevant. Students should review the course catalog each semester as course offerings change. Adult Education offers the option to create a course in which a minimum of 4 students may request any class not listed, and the department will create it.
