The University of Saint Mary was founded in 1923 as a liberal arts college in the Catholic tradition. The University offers a value-based education with equal focus on academics and morality. The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth founded the institution.  Today the University of Saint Mary offers 26 undergraduate and 5 graduate degree programs. Online Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Not only does earning a BSN offer the opportunity for nurses to offer better patient outcomes and increased quality of care, but also access to more advanced opportunities with a higher salary.  Students in the University of Saint Mary’s online RN to BSN program may have the opportunity to simultaneously earn a certificate in Health Care Management as a stepping to leadership opportunities.

The BSN program focuses on developing critical thinking and decision-making skills in the areas of health assessment, nursing care plan development, intervention implementation, and outcome evaluation.  Mission in Health Care: A Theological Perspective, Nursing as a Profession, End of Life Care, Senior Integrative Seminar and Research in Nursing are some of the courses required to complete the nursing degree.  Students have the option of attending a graduation ceremony on campus, though the entire degree program may be completed online.  The career outlook for nurses with a BSN qualification is very bright, with most openings being available in physicians’ offices, home health care and nursing care facilities.

Duration and Cost

Students can complete their program in as little as 18 months with continuous enrollment.  The total credits required for the bachelor’s degree is 128, 29 of which must be nursing credits.  Students may transfer credits from previous coursework to the program. The most recent tuition fee is $345 per credit hour, and is subject to change.  The amount of credit hours required to complete the program depends on the number of credit hours transferred in.
