Florida Southern College Undergraduate Nursing Programs
Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program
The traditional BSN program at Florida Southern College is ideal for students with no experience seeking to become nurses, as the program admits students directly to their nursing program without first entering as a “pre-nursing” student. In this course, students are prepared for the NCLEX-RN, national certification exam, and enjoy small classes and personalized attention from faculty. The program can be completed in 4 years, or 3 if the student chooses the accelerated option. Clinical programs, a simulation lab, and an on-campus organization specifically for learning nurses all enhance the nursing learning experience at the Department of Nursing of Florida Southern College.
RN to BSN (Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing) Degree Program
The RN to BSN program at Florida Southern College is designed for working RNs seeking to complete their bachelor’s degree in nursing. With increased opportunities available for RNs holding a BSN, Florida Southern College makes it easy for working RNs to earn their degree by offering a part-time degree program with classes offered in the evenings. The program can be completed in 2 to 3 years.
Florida Southern College Graduate Degree Programs
MSN Nurse Educator
The MSN Nurse Educator prepares nurses to serve and offer healthcare education to their nursing peers in healthcare and academic settings. Nurses will complete a clinical practicum of 350 hours. Upon completion of the program, students may take the Nurse Educator national certification exam offered by the National League for Nursing. The program is 37 hours.
MSN Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) are case managers and specialists in treating specific diseases or populations. Nurses in the MSN CNS program are prepared to take the national certification exam in their specialty offered through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The program is 39 hours.
MSN Adult Health Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
The Adult Health Nurse Practitioner MSN track was developed from a local need for the program. Students will complete a minimum of 500 clinical hours, advanced nursing courses and an academic paper under the guidance of a faculty member. Admission requirements include an unencumbered nursing license, three letters of recommendation and a 3.0 GPA earned while completed an accredited BSN program. The program is 39 hours. Students in this course may also take the national certification exam for ANPs through one of several nursing bodies offering the certification.
Florida Southern College Certificate Programs
Florida Southern College offers 3 masters degree programs in the same areas in which the master’s degrees are offered. This program also allows for students to receive national certification in their specialty area. Admission to this program is on a limited basis due to shared courses with nurses in the master’s program.
