The DNP requires applications to both the graduate school and NMSU School of Nursing. The BSN to DNP track is offered full-time only and accepts applications from students with a BSN and 3.0 or higher GPA. Admission to the masters track requires a 3.2 or higher GPA and CNS (Clinical Nurse Specialist) or NP (Nurse Practitioner) certification.

The PhD in Nursing Science at New Mexico State University is offered online, but requires nurses to attend a conference and on-campus events each year. General admission requirements for the PhD in Nursing Science include an MSN earned with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
