AAS in Nursing

The AAS in Nursing is offered in partnership with Oklahoma State University Oklahoma City. Nursing courses are delivered online with students participating in laboratory experience and exams on campus. Clinical practicum experiences for the AAS in Nursing program are completed locally. The AAS in Nursing is a type of ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) designed for nurses seeking immediate employment rather than a four year degree in nursing. Admission requirements to the program include a minimum 2.5 GPA in previous coursework, satisfactory score on the HESI A2 (nursing entrance exam), and completion of general education course requirements. Though not required, it is recommended that students complete general education prerequisites prior to beginning the AAS in Nursing program. Upon completion of the program, students earn an AAS in Nursing from OSU-OKC (Oklahoma State University Oklahoma City Campus). Students are also eligible to take the National Council for Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to become a Registered Nurse (RN). The AAS in Nursing program can be completed in two years.

AAS in Nursing-Advanced Standing for LPNs and Paramedics

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Paramedics are eligible to complete the AAS in Nursing program in less time than students without previous nursing education by earning credit for previous experience and education. LPNs should earn satisfactory marks in coursework and written exams for advanced standing eligibility. LPNs graduating from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing program are particularly well suited for the advanced standing option in the AAS in Nursing program. Paramedics with at least 1,000 hours of experience are also eligible for advanced standing and must complete a nursing transition course to receive academic credit for experience. As with LPNs, paramedics seeking advanced standing must earn a satisfactory score on prerequisites and written exams.

RN to BSN (Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing) Program

The RN to BSN program is a designed for RNs (Registered Nurses) seeking to earn a four year degree in nursing. Admission requirements to the RN to BSN program include a 2.0 or higher GPA in all previous college and nursing coursework, an ADN or diploma in nursing, and a valid and clear RN license. The RN to BSN program requires 124 credits total, with a significant amount of credits being transferred from the RN program. Upon completion of the RN to BSN program, students earn a BSN degree.
