Franklin Pierce University is a small private college based in Rindge, New Hampshire. In 1963, what was then Franklin Pierce College hosted its first class. Franklin Pierce University was named after Franklin Pierce, the 14th President of the United States and a New Hampshire native.
In addition to a traditional Master of Science in Nursing program, Franklin Pierce University also offers a RN to MSN program. The traditional MSN program offers Nursing Education and Nursing specializations. Students are separated in three distinct tracks according to their prior preparation. Track one is for BSN-prepared nurses, Track two for aspiring nurses with a masters degree in a field other than nursing, and Track three, the RN To MSN program for nurses with an associate degree. A BSN-prepared nurse enrolled in the nursing masters program can be completed in approximately two years of full-time study, though many students opt to attend the course part-time. Courses in the MSN program are delivered in a flexible format, with hybrid classes, which students attend both in-person and online.
To apply to the nursing masters program, students should have a GPA of 2.8 or higher in their previous nursing program. A prerequisite course in statistics and a current RN license is also required.

Rivier University was founded by the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Hudson, New Hampshire. The institution is named for Anne Marie Rivier, the organization’s founder. Rivier University became a university in 2012 and was founded in 1933 as Rivier College.
Rivier University offers several masters specialization options. MSN specializations include Family Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Education, Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and the Advanced Practice RN Degree completion program. The latter program is designed for nurses who are already certified as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to complete remaining requirements to earn a master’s degree. The nursing masters degree completion program is 23 credits. In addition to the RN to MSN program for nurses who do not hold a BSN degree, the university also offers an option for nurses with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing.
Nursing masters programs at Rivier University are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. The Psychiatric Mental Health MSN is offered in a hybrid model, and is a flexible program that is offered on a full or part time schedule. All MSN specializations allow the nurse to sit for their respective certification exam upon completion of their MSN program. In addition to the nursing masters program application, one letter of recommendation and a statement of purpose is required for admission to the program.

The University of New Hampshire is a public university located in Durham, New Hampshire. The university was founded in1866, the university’s first name was New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts. The University of New Hampshire also has a campus in Machester.
In addition to a traditional masters in nursing program, the University of New Hampshire offers a Direct Entry Master’s in Nursing program for students with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing. The Direct Entry MN program prepares students to take the NCLEX-RN in addition to a Master in Nursing. As well as holding a bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 or better average GPA, Direct Entry MN applicants should have completed the following prerequisite courses with a grade of “B” or higher:

The nursing MS degree program at the University of New Hampshire offers an Evidence-based Nursing (32 credits), Clinical Nurse Leader (34 credits) or Family Nurse Practitioner (48 credits) specialization. To demonstrate competency, upon completion of the nursing masters program, students will complete a thesis or capstone project. Students in the masters program will be introduced to scholarly research. Current faculty topics include cultural diversity, teen pregnancy and elder care.
