The Salt Lake City campus of Everest College offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing for students seeking initial licensure as registered nurses.

This traditional track is approved by the Utah Board of nursing.The program offers didactic courses alongside clinical and practical classes in preparing student for eligibility for the NCLEX-RN exam to become registered nurses.

Brigham Young University

With a Christian background and support, BYU offers an undergraduate BS in Nursing that promotes holistic nursing. It boasts to be one of the top five largest universities in the Nation and also the largest religion-affiliated universities in the US. Notably, close to 98% students including those in the bachelor of nursing program are Christians of the Church of Jesus of Latter-Day Saints. The BS in nursing has a curriculum of 91 hours and prepares students for initial licensure as registered nurses. As a Christian, students are obliged to take part in the Mormon Mission as part of the spiritual and outreach program. Additionally, students with exceptional grades may join the Honors Program and to broaden and sharpen their skills and development of moral and integrity.

Roseman University of Health Sciences

The Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Roseman University of Health sciences is a full time 18-month program designed for students with no prior nursing experience. The program is a replica of the university nursing program in Henderson campus in Nevada. The program at Utah is fully approved by the Utah Board of Nursing and accredited by NLNAC and is an upper division curriculum consisting of 81.5 credits. This means that all applicants must have completed their general education courses prior to applying. Applications for the South Jordan campus cohorts are accepted once annually for classes starting January. Upon admission, students take courses in a “Block System” whereby a course is taken individually before starting on another course. In 18 months of week-long full time, students become eligible to take the NCLEX-RN to become registered nurses.

Southern Utah University

Each Fall and Spring semesters, SUU admits 20 students for the undergraduate pre-licensure bachelor of nursing degree. The program has full accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. It is a very competitive nursing track and successful applicants usually surpass the minimum GPA of 3.0 required from all general education and supporting courses. Due to the limited number of seats, competitive admission is observed and sometimes decisions are made from a combination of factors including Essays, References and scheduled interviews. Applicants must also complete the TEAS V admission exam to be eligible to apply for the nursing major. Outside the classroom, student can seek membership in several Student Nurses Association (SNA) including Utah SNA, National SNA and SUUSNA.

University of Utah

There are four tracks leading to the Bachelor of Science in nursing degree at the University of Utah.  Two of the tracks are designed for students who have no prior nursing experience or prior college degree. Of these, the traditional program is meant for applicants who have already or in the course of completing their general education requirements for the BS in nursing degree. The Nursing Early Assurance Program on the other hand is designed for 10 high school seniors interested in pursuing a 4-year nursing degree. For the traditional program, applicants may have been traditional students or transfer students from other colleges with a lower division cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher. The Early acceptance students must maintain a pre-nursing cumulative GPA of 3.7 to ensure progression in the nursing major. Students in the early acceptance option but do not meet the high academic requirements may apply for competitive admission along with those in the traditional option. The major is designed to take 4 full time semesters for students to become eligible for the NCLEX-RN exam.

Utah Valley University

UVU offers a unique bachelor of nursing track designed to be completed in two steps; while gaining registered nurse status midway along the program. The program is an Associate in Science in Nursing with a BSN completion option designed to prepare students for the NLCEX-RN exam by the end of the 4th semester and offering a direct progression policy to complete the bachelor of nursing program. However, students are officially allowed seamless transition as baccalaureate students at the 6th semester if they have taken and passed the RN licensure exam. This means that there is a grace period of taking the NCLEX-RN exam while taking the 5th semester courses. The entire program takes 6 semesters and as such requires maximum commitment to complete.

Westminster College

The undergraduate bachelor of nursing at Westminster College is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate nursing Education. It is open for both traditional Westminster students, transfer and even students seeking second degree in nursing but have no prior nursing experience.  The nursing program has been at one time voted as a “Best Value” college in offering quality education with affordable cost. Interested students should apply in the last semester of the sophomore year for consideration for the nursing major at junior level. Both transfer and traditional students must have attained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on all prior courses taken.  However, qualified students with previous enrollment to Westminster are given admission priority over other categories of applicants. While in the major, student nurses can apply to be members of the Sigma Theta Tau International Chapter of the college.
