This is a private, Catholic institution based in Omaha, Nebraska. Founded in 1878, Creighton University offers over 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The university is named in honor of John and Mary Creighton, which provided the funds necessary to establish the university.
Creighton University offers BSN to DNP (Bachelors of Science to Doctor of Nursing Practice) and Post-Masters DNP (PM-DNP) programs for nurses aspiring to earn the highest qualification available in clinical practice. Comprehensive specialization options are available for students enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. Students in the Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) specializations may further specialize in Oncology, Cardiology or Gerontology. Clinical Systems Administration, Advanced/Global Public Health, Certified Nurse Midwife and Certified Nurse Anesthetist are other specialization options available to DNP students. Students may also take courses in nursing education in order to pursue a career as a nurse educator.
Admission requirements to the DNP program include graduation from a BSN program accredited by a nursing body with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program are not required to take the Graduate Record Exam. Three letters of recommendation and working experience as an RN are also required for admission. Applicants should have completed prerequisite courses in statistics and physical assessment.

Established in 1880, the University of Nebraska Medical Center has been a part of the University of Nebraska system since 1902. UNMC’s graduate programs are ranked nationally, with nursing, pharmacy and medical education being among the top programs. The nursing program has been in operation since 1917.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice is for aspiring nurse leaders in clinical practice, administration and informatics. The doctoral program focuses on improving quality of care, health systems, and the delivery of care in the nursing practice. The Doctor of Nursing Practice requires 35 academic credits and may be completed on a full or part time basis. In addition to completing nursing courses, students complete courses in the College of Public Health. As part of the requirements for earning the DNP, nurses enrolled in the program must complete at least 500 hours of clinical practice, though more may be required for nurses who do not have sufficient practice hours.
The nursing PhD program prepares nurses for a variety of career roles in nursing education, research and policy. Both bachelors and masters qualified nurses are able to pursue the PhD in Nursing degree program. For admission to the nursing doctoral research program, students should have a 3.2 or higher GPA and at least a score of 1000 on the GRE.
