Registered Nurses (RNs) are an important part of the healthcare system. They care for patients who need routine care and in emergencies and in other situations. This career is very demanding, but it is rewarding as well. Those interested in becoming an RN may choose from an RN program that leads to a Nursing Associate Degree in two years or from a program that leads to a Bachelor’s Degree in four years. Both options qualify graduates to take the national exam that is required to be licensed as a nurse.

RN Programs in Kentucky
Each RN program has its own requirements for admission to the school. RN programs are often very challenging and require the ability to pass high level math and science classes, especially when the student is in a four-year Bachelor of Science (BSN) program. BSN programs require RN students to complete all of the general education courses as well as many nursing courses. Clinical work is completed at nearby hospitals, and students are assigned to work with patients of all ages and in many different scenarios, such as critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, and others.
Students are encouraged to apply to the program about one year in advance.
